Right this deffinatly isn't the best chipset ever to flash drives with, although once I had worked out how to do everything it is relativly trouble free
Problem 1)
to get the drive in mode B you just boot in slax right? well if you boot up normally the drive will be found but it won't be set into mode B and isn't seen by windows
Sollution:
to rectify this problem when you get to the part in the boot sequence that say's spinning up the drive............ eject the drive and then close it again (with a CD in it) this will then put the drive into mode B (the drive doesn't spin up unless you do it for it)
after this restart you'r pc and the DVD drive will be seen by the PC
Problem no. 2
so when you start up maximus 360 firmware toolbox 3.0, and try to dump the firmware the DVD has to be spinning in the drive, well you double tap the eject button and the drive closes disk spool's up nicely the minute its at max rev's it spool's down and eject's again no matter what you do even if you are ultra fast the most I ever got dumped was 12kb / 256KB .
Sollution: restart you'r XBOX leave you'r pc on the xbox will yes no longer be in mode B yet it will let you dump the FW
problem no.3
right so you now have the origional FW and have patched it to play backup's, you go to flash the drive and it say's cannot find the drive, alas as it isnt in mode B any more
Sollution: boot up in slax again to get the drive into mode b (rember to close the drive tray on the spooling up thing)
Problem no.4
right so we are now in mode B we can see the drive and we have our hacked firmware, we click patch and yup the disk has to be in use or something along those lines, and everytime the disk get's up to speed it auto eject's itself again
sollution: Restart you'r XBOX (make sure you are at the section where you have already selected you'r DVD drive) restart it so the drive is no longer in B and flash away.
sorry if its all kinda poorly written I couldn't find the tutorial that I used to go alongside (excluding these fixes) but you can flash hitachies with the ICH7 chipset its no just sammies with the custom MKT flash
