Hitachi Trouble
« on: March 13, 2007, 05:56:00 PM »

Hello.  I just tried flashing my Hitachi 59dj drive and typed everything in on the command line like I am supposed to and it keeps locking up while flashing sector 1/9.  I get to mode b with slax.  Windows detects it and assigns it a drive number (the one i am also typing in while trying to flash).  I was worried when it locked up and I shut everything down my drive would be bricked but luckily its just fine.

I have only flashed one other drive.  It was a Hitachi 78fk.  Had no problems whatsoever using the toolbox to flash.  Should I flash using that toolbox even though this drive isnt a 78?

Im kind of stuck deciding if i should flash at all even.  If Microsoft starts banning people I might as well throw my console away.  Without LIVE I would never play my 360.  BUT if you guys think that it will never happen any ideas would be appreciated.

I did also try to flash in safe mode by the way.  Using the same SATA cable in the same port I flashed the 78.  Are some drives picky on flashing?  I did download Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2 because it does have all the hacked firmware files in a rar file.  I have no idea what FW among the 40 to use for the stealth fw.  I see a bunch with different numbers (32, 36, 59, etc.) and I assume its the 59 obviously.  Should I use the 59_16s or the 59b_16s? Or another one?  Now that you have read my novel lol any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

WIll move it to   Hacking/Technical DVD-ROM , you may get more help on how to flash your 59 there.

I would hold on using toolbox on the 59_16S until you are sure it is the only options, and validate.

and no  one can promise you anything about ban/ no ban on live, that in the end your call.

The program will keep trying to restore until it restores 100% so if it tells you its safe to shut down that means it restored correctly. Make sure the power connector is correctly connected as that is what controls the eject.

Just use the "flash16s.bat x XXXX" command. The 's' means stealth. With my 59dj the flasher automatically used the 59_16s.bin file to flash it. You also have to make sure you unpacked this FWPACK.RAR file somewhere in your x-lg directory. I guess your SATA drivers aren't up to date/compatible, try to update them.

Dont use Vista to flash the dvd-rom ,as it denied to flash my laptop's bios yesterday. I dont think this would be an appropiate host to mess with something somewhat expensive.  biggrin.gif
