Couple Questions Concerning Flashing.
« on: March 07, 2007, 01:30:00 AM »

So I will be buying an xbox360 in a couple of days, I don't know if it'll be a Hitachi or a Samsung etc..

Either way I will try to flash the drive.

The problems I have is that I have
a) a laptop.
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) a pc with a NON-SATA motherboard.

What would be my best option?
a) get someone else to flash my drive
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) buy a PCI SATA card ( Anyone have any suggestions?)
c) buy the xecuter connectivity kit V2 (USB) (which works only with hitachi drives correct?)

if you get a Sata pci card with A "Via 6421 Chipset you should be ok with all the flashable 360 drives

this will not work on the Hitachi 00078 which is in xbox's dated after about August/September 06
there are two new 360 drives showing up in xboxs dated 07 (00079 & benQ) these drives cannot be flashed at the mo

get a 360 with as early date as possible there is a littel flap on the box that will let you see the date on the 360 inside

Is there anyway I can check the serial number on the box and know which version of dvd drive I'm getting?

I think I saw a list somplace with PLU codes and which drives the box contained but I can't locate it now.
