ive got a ms28 TS here that i swapped with a buddy of mine (this drive was giving open tray errors on every backup but originals worked fine for him). being nice i swapped my currently unused laser (just recently fixed the mainboard that went along with the laser withhim, and of course, backups worked again..

i assumed the problem with the laser was somethig the rubberband mod could fix, but, from what ive been trying it doesnt work..
this drive barely gives the open tray problem now, but rather the unreadable disc error you get after it boots the game. basically, the 360 detects the game, i pick play game. it sits at a black screen for about 10 seconds or so looking like its going to boot it, then gives the error saying to clean the disc with a cloth. ive tried just about every backup ive got and all do the same. originals work flawlessly however. i did the bad route of pot tweaking, and managed to improve the readability of discs after tweaking it so it wouldnt recognize the backups.

i updated to xtreme 5.2a and still no go (didnt expect much really but one less thing to test out)..
so, the questions are this basically:
1) does ANYONE have a link or a pic or anything to how to do the rubber band mod. theres a wackload of people posting about it, and ive seen the youtube video, but well, that doesnt help me much.
2) is my laser on the go? he said that this happened RIGHT after his GRAW update (musta been a coincedence)
3) is it worth pot tweaking some more? i mean it doesnt make sense itll boot to me then give disc errors afterwards

oh i forgot, when i did pot tweak and do what i believe is the rubberband mod.. i managed to get my smackdown backup to boot but i tried another backup and it did not work. frustrated i set the pot back to normal and removed the rubber band heh.

any ideas?
