Any news on this? I got one of these when my xbox was returned from the service center in Germany. I guess all units comming out of there get these now. My xbox has manufacturing date of feb 2006 but my dvd is from march 2007. Really annoying!

Ok this drive has been flashed by misterfly on xboxahcker site, with the help from carranzafp, so its just not in a friendly enough way for most of us to do. Im sure they will do it, guess its time...  Ive got my m8s 360 here which he got from ebay, eventually had the red lights on it!!! so MS sent him a new unit last wk, so i looked at the drive and its man date of unit is 2006-10-24 and the drive date is march 2007.!!! and yes it a 0079FK  dry.gif

here we go again  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif) , read the two warnings above.

if this is about the v79 drive and hacking fine,

if not and as warned above , keep it in x360 general.

If you have a v79, plse do not forget to register in the Drive List, this thread is not to list everyone that got a v79 drive.

PLSE READ THE WARNING JUST ABOVE.

This thread is for technical discussion on the Hacking of the v79, not for everyone with a v79 to post saying 'hey I have an elite with a v79'

I strongly recommend that we keep the info on the v79/lot/where it was bought at the right place which is the Drive List site. NOT IN THIS THREAD.

Sanction served

I has thinking...

On Xtreme firmware v4.2 - v5.3, is necessary use the DVD Enable0800 to have access to the drive (Read and Write the firmware).

On HT-LG 0079FK (v79), is not possible read the firmware through software(SATA - USB, etc...), because of one single misplaced bit (or well placed "M$"). Is some way possible make the original firmware find and enable this suppost missed bit using information on a DVD or software???

Can be a stupid ideia, i know...  huh.gif

After you get the v79 binary file ,open it with fw toolbox 3.x and choose smart hack patcher.Choose the output file and hit ok.Open that file this time and encrypt it and reprogramme.

amychris,
An external programmer is a peice of hardware you plug into your PC which can read/write directly to the bios chip from your dvd drive (and many other chips)
I use a Willem Programmer I got from ebay.
