QUOTE(ebphondaprelude @ Sep 6 2007, 05:54 AM) *

i got a maximus passkey but am having a lil problem

I installed flashed and had it working fine, when I took the chip out, I got 3 red lights, with an error ive never seen 0031, and what was odd the 3 was upside down, (player 4 was out, normally 3 red lights, player one is out)

When I pulled the drive out it booted fine

But once I put the drive back in, I get the same error, and it happens as soon as it gets power, no fans no nothing

I got it to boot once, but the laser stayed on, didn’t move, and the drive wouldn’t eject, I rebooted and back to 3 red lights

Am I doing something wrong?

The install was on point, nothing bridged, and the removal was fine as well nothing splashed no burnt spots nothing.

i tested a diffrent drive in thier and it worked fine, but i think this 79 may be dead??

And if you put the chip back in ? Just for testing ? Does it work fine then again ?

no the drive is 100% unresponsive, what i did was swap a ms25 into it, swap the keys, and all problems solved, now jus hope the next 79 goes better

yea their about the same as an NME install
but since the pads are gone u need to either solder to the trace or the IC leg coming off the chip

Whats the best way to get the resin off I did not risk using my heat gun I just used a 40 W soldering iron which did not do a very clean job.

What would be the best way to do this, now that i have broken "A,H and I" Pads could I use the thin cable plus my own wire for A,H and I pads?

Yesterday i got my infectus passkey for my hitachi 79fk drive.
it was a hard job to solder it.
first you must use the heat gun to remove the glue, but attention not to hot.
then solder the chip to the pins, best to use a 15w-25w solder iron.
this was hard it took me 30min for 12pins and i am very good in soldering.(be carefully with this)
then i connected the drive to the pc and it was recognised by xp.
i flashed it with toolbox 4.0 and now my elite runs perfect with verbatim double layer. smile.gif
