As far as the "little black screws" go, as long as you tightened them back up you should be alright. If it broke the seal between them you'd be getting 2 red lights telling you it overheated. For the being hot after a couple hours of gameplay that's pretty normal, I don't think any 2 of these things run the same temps anyway.

For the FW, I'm moving this the the DVD-ROM Technical section since you'll have a lot better luck in there with that part.
