I couldn't get anything out of the drive either; most likely because my chipset is incompatible. I'll have to find a VIA chipset somewhere before I can do anything.

Where on the box does it tell you the build date?  Went looking today but couldn't see it anywhere?  Thanks.

Can anyone with a benq give this a test whirl?

www.xbins.org/iriez/benq_mtkflash.zip

Lets see if that dumps it! (courtesy of c4e)

EDIT - Added FlashID to .typ file, give it a test!

EDIT 2 - Tried...no positive results yet. Looking more into it.

It's on a big white sticker on the side of the box.  It has MFR Date, LOT, and Team.

I checked the sticker on all the 360's I looked at today.  Is there some kind of code because I didn't see anything that resembled a date.  Could it be under the flap where it says the Serial number is?  I couldn't get that flap up to see.

The MFR is NOT on the sticker on the box. To see the MFR date, you have to lift that little flap on the box. The MFR date is above the serial number on the actual 360. blink.gif

Same here, the process just freezes and my PC doesn't do a god damn thing. Tried every method, not dumping anything as far of now

Hi which one is the better drive and quieter?  The tray I have looks like toshiba/samsung, the one on the far right.  So what is the better drive if you had a choice?

IMO, SAMSUNG is better than the Hitachi but both fail miserably compared to the BenQ. I've had them all, and the BenQ is fucking Q U I E T and seemingly faster.

no shit? I will be going there, do you know if they let you look at the boxes of the systems or if there out on display somewhere, or are they all locked up and its random chance which one you get. Just to clarify, he has the enw benq drive right? thanks!

I got mine at a Rhino/GS store. I asked the guy to find me the most recent build date, and he was cool enough to do that for me. Ask them to do the same, and explain why. They more than likely will be just as helpful.

Yep he does, thats where i got the pictures from.  He has since returned it for an MS28.  The boxes are locked up, but you can ask them for the newest shipment they have received.  If the guy is nice he will actually find it for you.

So are modders close to hacking the BenQ?  I just got my 360 today and I really wanna get it modded!  sleep.gif

Its not even dumped yet buddy. We got to figure out how to read/write to the drive first, then we'll worry about 'hacking' it. I think that a realistic eta would be a few weeks.

I thought the new drive could be read just like an ms28 samsung?  I guess if that was the case, you would already have the orig. f/w

To me, MS is not trying to make a non-hackable drives ,just trying to find the most stable and reliable drives.I'm sure this drive will take even shorter than hitachi 78 to get hacked.
