To the poster above, your tutorial link is broken.

I finally got my drive to read out the firmware.  I'm concerned, however...each time I read it, I get a different DataSum value.  Can anyone explain what's going on?  That can't be right, can it?

Nevermind, cutting the traces deeper and resoldering solved the problem, I have successfully read the BenQ firmware.

Doesn't look like a pattern for getting a Benq drive from the 360 Drive Database. I would like to replace my 360 with a Elite but from the looks of things the odds of getting a Hitachi are greater than the Benq.

This is an excellent find by the way. I would love to try it if I can land a Benq drive.

Keep up the good work.

Is it worth me doing dumping the key to a Samsung? I've been patient waiting for teh BenQ iExtreme and if it's due soon I don't mind waiting a little bit longer, so any rough estimates for an iextreme? as I do like the BenQ drive as it's quieter than my previous one.

LOL, I wish that was true. I have a brand new 360 with a BenQ, trying to hold off buying a replacement drive due to rumors of the fw being out soon. I wish someone in the know would post some sort of ETA at least. If it's going to be a couple months, then I might not wait.

I'll probably be getting a BenQ drive as well, my Xbox is in for repair (ROD).. Had a perfectly working MS25, now Microsoft is busting my balls again..  dry.gif I think I'll wait for the soft mod, don't like soldering  biggrin.gif

Was your Xbox repaired? Or did you get an entirely new Xbox?
