Xtreme Boot Maker Gives Md5 Error With Xtrem52a - Results In E65
« on: February 01, 2007, 02:01:00 AM »

Sorry for posting two threads but I think the probelms are unrelated.

I have the normal Xtreme52 fw dloaded successfully and extracted.

When I go to make the patch files using Xtreme Boot Maker I get an error when I try to load the xtrem52a.bin file.

"You have Selected an unknown firmware.  Would you like to download a Firmware Definition Update?"

Naturally I say No since Yes doesn't work.  I then end up with an Unknown MD5 listed in my fw box.

No big deal right, I know the fw is good, so I figure it must just be the boot maker sw.

I follow all the normal flashing procedures for a Via Bad Flash method and it all goes normally 100%s.

But then when it is all done I end up with a E65 error on the screen.

Any ideas what is up with the fw I've got?

thanks

...I should mention I am able to flash it back using "samorig.bat" but now I can't open my dvd tray.

Theres lots of threads on this site about E65 errors use the search button. I don't know whether they have a fix or not, I didn't read them then I don't have the error   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I used 5.2d with extreme boot maker 0.36 and the flashing was successful. Extreme boot maker gave "You have Selected an unknown firmware. Would you like to download a Firmware Definition Update?" as an error but it didn't change anything.

The older versions of Xtreme boot Maker don't support Xtreme 5.2. TO make the old version work you need to run the samread command reboot your pc into windows and build the firmware with the tools provided in the Xtreme 5.2 package. Then place the X52.bin file created in the root directory on your boot disk. Then boot back into dos and flash the drive using "mtkflash w /m X52*.bin" command (without quotations and replace the * with the firmware version letter you selected. Hope that helps. Or you can get the new version of Xtreme Boot Maker that now supports Xtreme 5.2. I have tested it and it worked great for flashing my ms25 Drive.

Xtreme Boot Maker v0.5.3 (RC1)

Can you eject the drive? Because if you can the drive is not bricked and the 10 second trick should work.

Also the 10 second trick only works with select chipsets. Mainly VIA Chipsets. I use a VIA 6421l PCI SATA Card for all my mods.

my drive didn't eject...

but... thanks for your help guys !
It finally worked !!!

How ?

I read it in another thread..... but tried 7-8 different things...

- Booted PC, using NTFSDOSCD (using D: 1Gb NTFS partition).
- Power on Xbox, drive connected.
- Wait 20sec
- Then in Dos : mtkflash w /m /sata orig.bin (my original file) and press enter.
- Power off Xbox.
- Wait 10sec.
- Power ON Xbox and about 4-5 seconds later, when the ring comes all green clicking, select my device (2: Xtreme... in my exemple). And it WORKED.
- Then after that, back to windows, Used the Xtreme 5.2 tool to generate my x52b.bin file from orig.bin file.
- Then go back to Dos and did the normal 10sec trick, after copying the x52b.bin file to my root partition.
- Worked great !
- I got the E66 message, then the E65, then got back to Original firmware, and now Xtreme 5.2b, wow Smile

Thanks for your help, the trick was in fact to power ON Xbox 360 about 4-5 seconds BEFORE to hit enter for flashing.... this tip rescued my drive !!!!
