i never used slax with my 6421L setup as i dont like it. i have a tx connectivity kit instead.

to stop the pc from freezing during startup i wait until i have booted into windows, then power the dvd drive, at which point the drive appears in my computer with a letter name. done it many many times now no problems.

then flash using garyopa's latest release.

Hi, i had the same prob with my pc.......everything showed up fine, drive in modeb yet got the same error as yours.

Instead of using the garyopa firmware tried the birdy friendly flasher, flashed no problem at all, backups work 100%.

Now whether you use birdy flasher is upto you, people have reported problems, just giving you an alternative should you wish to try something else.

Read up on birdy's.....hope you get it sorted. smile.gif

Hello Total Noob
I too have a 47DJ and had similar problems, couldnt get my onboard Sata to work, couldnt get the Via 6421 to work either. The card worked fine and the computer device manager didnt have an exclamation mark in it. (until the xbox drive was connected)
In my drawer here i found an old cheap Sata/Ide - USB connecter i used it  for transferring from hard drives to my computer.
It took a while to flash (used my laptop in the end) but just left it on and all works fine now.
this is the sort of item I used.

PS It also stated about the device error after the flashing 1/9 section.
After it said Is the flashing stable, It didnt seem to be doing much after that, but I just left it and finally it carried on and flashed.

I hope this may help.

im fed up with this now...

I really have tried everything. Iv tried using Birdys latest (2.2), that flashed first time but verification failed. The auto flasher then crashed and will now not recognise the drive. I thought the drive may be bricked but it appears to be the same as stock.

The flasher doesnt detect my drive any more and neither does birdys 2.1. I have also tried different versions of garyOPAs stealth; 2.2 2.3 and 2.3rev2.

All the garyopas fail at sector 90003000. I have also tried Birdy's HITFLASHER that i found. This picks up my drive but again fails at 90003000.

Problem with my drive maybe? Unflashable? Hell if i know....
