That sucks Dankbud. You definitely know what you're doing so I can see how your problem is super frustrating. So with the same computer you're having troubles with, you've previously modded 6 boxes? What's changed? Were the 6 other dvd drives Sammy MS25's or MS28's?
When you go under device manager under XP, is the VIA VT6421 listed under SCSI and RAID Controllers? And I find it odd that the drivers from the CD didn't work. If I were you I would remove all of your PCI cards, and then re-install the VIA VT6421 and ensure that it was properly installed. Next I would double check the Xtreme Boot Maker - when you check off Use custom MTKFlash, in the pulldown box are you able to select 'VIAT VT6421 RAID Controller'? Once you selected VIA VT6421 Raid Controller, did you click the Detect ID- I/O button? It should check your ms32info and put in the correct device ID and I/O port. Make sure you also checked off MS28 Bad Flash Compatibility and Apply Boke's Patch and Format and Make bootable - all of which I'm sure you know.
Try all that and get back to me. And worry not my friend, you'll get it working. Once you get the drive detected and you are able to run SAMREAD, the rest is gravy.
Good luck.
thanks for the big reply. first off, the boxes were like 4 ms25's and 2 Hitachi's. previously when i used the XBM it use to list my SATA ports and this is what the most confusing part i(again this is pertaining to BOTH computers). i work at a pc shop so i have access to more but this should not be necessary seeing how i bought this card to SOLVE all my problems w/ the chipset issue.......i found it odd too, the installed just kept givin me an error. i could have manually installed them but i figured itd be best from the website so i did that and it updated it to 2006 drivers. yes the VT6421 is listed under the raid and sata. tried to remove and reinstall...yes i am able to select the VT6421 chipset in XBM no problem and detected i I/O it no problem. i hooked my 400 gb sata hdd up to it and it works in windows so i know the card does work...and again i did purchase 2 cards and both same thing with both computers. and both creating each xbm on each diff computer for that particular computer...checked off bad flash and brokes...tried combos of things unchecked and tried not using the custom mtkflash with diff combos of the checks and nothing. im tellin yai tried everything. .so yes, i did try all that...

i have a thread open already so i won't bore you. But i've tried everything. floppy usb. 3 different pc's xtreme bootmaker, hex editing my own, Via version. I've tried it all...ms28, ofcourse.
the odd thing about my circumstances are that if i plug 2 sata hdd's..my media storage drives into the card
you would expect to see them in the raid utility in windows, or in disk management. well nothing appears there. The ide part of the card works though which leads me to the assumption that it's broken. I email the shop saying that my hdd's won't appear in windows when the proper drivers are installed. they agreed that i should ask for another one.
what do you think? thanks
see im not having that issue, mine sees it fine in windows. id download the latest drivers and try that man...

Just out of curiosity... which sata port are you guys using?
If your card is like mine it will have 3 sata ports and 1 ide. The port you should be using is the one on the opposite end of the card from the metal securing plate. Not the external one and not the one on the same side as the ide port.
i think i tried em all but not 100% if i tried that one.

am i correct about this particular card not having a BIOS after POST? cause mine dont and the other 2 ive used previously did.......
