HELP im trying to flash it and when i type in SAMREAD XXX XXXX i get the X360SAM logo and then it says BACKUPS\06074xx\63xxx\ORIG.BIN NOT FOUND ! ABORTING

How do i fix it do i need to \ edit MKTFLASH SOMEHOW?

you get that msg becuase it did not find the drive... if you look above x360sam logo you may be able to see the errors.. but basically it did not read the firmware and it could not find orig.bin

there are a number of things that can cause this.. so you are going to have to be waaaay more specific and detailed in the steps you take to flash.

like your setup... how are you flashing it.. etc etc..

I got the VIA6421A i followed the TEXTBOOK guide i put all the info and made my USB thumb drive bootable and it booted i typed in SAMREAD and i get that error. Once i get into dos i connect my SATA cable into the CD Drive.

what would be affected if the xbox wasn't grounded? please help im trying tog et this out of the way s i can enjoy myself im home sick (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

unplug all devices except the sata card...
turn on xbox with sata cord connected to pc.

then turn on pc and boot to dos...

now type samread 1234567 12345 (DO NOT PRESS ENTER)

turn off xbox at this time...

Turn on the xbox and press ENTER

Then does it give you the same error?

ALSO...
I personally had to connect a ide dvd drive or cdrom drive to the ide connector on the sata card..
I also had to change some things in my PC bios for it to work. You are going to have to play around...
it is a timing thing... you also might want to try to use just mtkflash and not samread/samhack thing... it is easier to deal with because the samread takes over and finishes before you can do the flash unless you time it even better. good luck

the method that works as far as recognizing the drive is trial and error, and is different for everyone.
For me i powered both xbox and pc at same time, the pc had nothing connected at all except power, it boots to a:\ if you are using a boot disk, then hook sata from xbox to pc, wait 10 secs, then type samread 123...etc, it should then bring up some info with your sata card, mine said something like xtreme master something.. no matter, before you select it turn off the xbox, press 1 or enter or whatever you have to do, wait 10 secs then power on the xbox. it should start to immediately read. Hope this helps. Also you should always ground it, but should make no diff. in not seeing the sata card in dos. GL. man.

I've always had the best luck with ms28 by turning on the pc as soon as the green led's finish doing their dance. Of course the center led stays blinking because I have the board completely removed from the dvd drive with two wires attached. I use mtkflash, I have built-in sata that works (nf4)
It really is a timing issue like the others are saying. I can tell if its going to work because the ide channel detection causes a delay before it times out and proceeds to boot from floppy. Thats because I haven't connected the two wires yet to give the eeprom its juice. Whereas if I don't wait for the green led dance to finish before powering the pc, it speeds through bootup like normal but doesnt detect the ms28 tsst in mtkflash.

still trying no luck i after i type in SAMREAD XXXX then it asks me to choose drive press 1 for XTREME Pri msdter but i press it then it says port 8800 master/slave a0 Status 51 should be 70 then nothin happens and i press ESC and i get ERROR USER BREAK and i get the X360SAM logo and it says orig.bin NOT FOUND ABORTING in the bios do i select on board SATA or what setting should it be... also the green LED on my VIA controller never go on

ok this worked it started reading %%% then it said KEY frin ORIG.bin ERROR valid key structure not found
Key from HACKED.bin ERROR valid key structure not found

One or both keys are not valid

What now this is all in key check

keycheck saved you from a bricked 360

have you tried both ports on the card?

no but i will now so follow everything again but switch ports ont he car.. Also are the LED's on the card supposed to light up? if so when?

k so i tried to connect to the other port on the SATA card but it wouldnt detect the drive.. So i did it again on the port closes to the hard drives and it read again but came up with the same error VALID KEY STRUCTURE NOT FOUND... How do i got about fixing that part (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

k i used this tutorial guide and everything read and checked out successful. What next follow the textbook guide or im done and can play my games???

So, you flashed and all is well? If keycheck didnt find a key, either it doesnt conform to a typical key (more than 3 repeating bytes) or the key wasnt in the $4000-4400 range. Do yourself a favor, download a hexeditor, open your orig.bin, jump to offset $4000 and scroll down until you see 16 non-repeating bytes. Tell me what offset those bytes are found at. If it is within the $4000-4400 range, than it has repeating values, which is odd, and x360sam would have copied it correctly. If it is found past $4400, then x360sam didnt copy your key properly and keycheck wont find it properly. If this is the case, do not flash your firmware, as it wont work for originals or backups.

Double check and let me know the offset. If it is past $4400, you can download and use Firmware Keytool v0.422.
