QUOTE(joeh @ Jan 10 2007, 08:46 PM) *

just read through all of the comments again slowly. And looked at the other linked thread. If i put an IDE drive in i can see that drive. But still nothing on the sata.

my MS28 is:

H/W 007
August 2006
Ver:A

It does sound like the SATA part isn't working. Especially if a non 360 SATA device doesn't show up in windows.
DOS required NO DRIVERS (Xtreme Bootmaker patches MTKflash for your chipset – run it in windows & detect your chipset with it!!!! - TICK Option for MS28 Bad Flash Recovery & ADD Option to apply Boke's MS28 single device hack)

I use the right most connector too.

I used the furthest PCI slot from my AGP slot.

The DVD-ROM date is no problem at all !!!!!

I do this method & it works every time for me

Boot to DOS from USB drive (formatted with Xtreme Bootmaker 0.3.6)

I then connect SATA from 360 DVD-ROM to PCI SATA card

Power ON the xbox (I actually use a connectivity kit – but it makes no difference)

WAIT ABOUT 5 SECONDS TO LET THE DVD-ROM initialise

Samread 1234567 12345

TURN OFF Xbox or connectivity kit

WAIT ABOUT 5 SECONDS

Select the VT6421 device

Wait 5 seconds & turn on the Xbox or con kit

It should read bank 0,1,2,3

POWER OFF Xbox or Con Kit (I don’t reboot PC, there seems no need)

POWER ON Xbox or Con Kit

WAIT ABOUT 5 SECONDS TO LET THE DVD-ROM initialise

Samhack 1234567 12345

TURN OFF Xbox or connectivity kit

WAIT ABOUT 5 SECONDS

Select the VT6421 device

Wait 5 seconds & turn on the Xbox or con kit

This is what the exact card i have looks like if it's any help.
(IMG:http://www.funinlife.net/finish/H/innomart/H530/1.jpg)

I am using exactly the same card
this is how i do it

Flashing MS28 Drive
Used xtreme boot maker with bokes patch for ms28 drives and ms28 bad flash compatability

boot up pc turn off onboard sil sata in bios

connect up 360 MS 28 sata port to internal port on
VIA VT6421 Sata card "the port nearest front of pc "( only MS28 no others -ide etc )

boot pc to dos with usb pendrive (MS28 drive powered off)

once in dos prompt power up MS28 Drive (with either 360 or connectivity kit)

type in dos " mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin"
Press ENTER

Turn off Power to MS28 drive

select port 3 (extreme port) will sit and hang waiting

count to 10

power up MS28 (starts to read firmware straight away)

BTW it wont show on boot

Ok im in windows and pointed to the drivers in the 5.2c download.

Here:

VIA_RAID_520C\VIARAID\Driver\winxp

I used the driver located there. Now I've 3 hard drives in total. All of which are sata. I've got my main one plugged into the motherboard and my two data media drive plugged into the sata PCI VIA card. I can't see them in windows with the card properly installed.?

Is this normal behavour. They are even not being detected in the Via Raid utility.

if you go to system settings and then into device manager are there any yellow triangles with ! in the middle? if so your drivers aint in propper

also try turning raid off in bios and then see if your hard drives are visible in windows

i thought mine was faulty but i never gave up.

have u tried updating your motherboard bios?
have you messed around withing bios sata options?
also go to pci config in bios and highlight the diffrent pci ports and look to the right of the screen it will say whats in each port (in our case it will say raid blah blah)

DONT GIVE UP

YOU CAN DO IT!!!
