Hello can someone please help me
I have eventually got hold of a VIA VT6421A PCI sata card. I have followed all kinds of guides on this forum I have a ms28 samsung drive
Xtreme bootmaker does not work I have tried playing with the bios in the sata options I have tried for hours upon hours and my Sammy drive hasn’t even shown up once. Im loosing my mind here
I have flashed all hitachis even the new 78 ones and I have done a couple of ms25s but this ms28 is driving me nuts I have tried all most everything that these forum have to offer
My motherboard is gigabyte GA-K8NE .
Its as if my sata pci card is not showing up in bios there could be some kind of clash with these motherboards and pci cards perhaps
Please please help me

If I were you I would take a look at textbooks guide pg. 50 it seems to have some insight on what to do when your drive isnt being recognized. GoodLuck!

thannx anyway but i have looked at textbooks guide!and other guides too.
my sammy drive just cannot be seen in bios mo matter what i do or dont do.

5.3c drivers are installed and nothing is happening
i have tried to my knowledge all the steps
i think there must be some kind of clash between motherboard and via pci sata card i cant think of anything else
the samsung just wont show up before the flash
the pci card wont show up in bios

can anyone else think of anything i may have missed out?

My Via card did not show up in the BIOS.  It did however show up in windows.  I feel like you should do some research as i did (about 7 hours) and i was able to figure out the problem.  

Ask yourself what is xTremeBootMaker doing?  Maybe it's not doing what you think it should be.  Maybe take a look at mtkFlash with a hex editor, maybe you will see that the file is not edited correctly.  Search on editing mtkFlash manually.  Or search and try to find a mtkFlash file that has already been edited for the VIA chip set.

Once you understand the process and what's being done under the covers it will make much more sense.

A previously hex edited mtk flash won't work. Part of the editing is inserting the IO address of the card in your particular machine.

I also had lots of trouble flashing my ms28 with a via 6421 card. Maybe my post will help?

thanks everyone i have got this ms28 flashed ok

i reinstalled windows on my hard drive and started from scatch
i installed older drivers for the vt6421a pci card (v 3.2c)
i placed the PC! card in the highest PCI slot (just under graphics card)
my motherboard is a GA-K8NE (just incase anyone has been through the same as me)
xtreme bootmakers device id and I/O numbers were exactly the same before i made these changes

and what do you know!  first time i tried it worked a charm

Moving it to another PCI slot is probably what did it.....

Changing the pci slot didn't help for me. Going to uninstall the card and use older drivers.

where can i get the older drivers from. I cannot see them on ViaArena??

there deffo on via arena you just need to look a bit harder. i dont mean that in a funny way i mean becouse the config of there website is shit. good job turkey is here with links
press here and look in tiny blue writing to the righ that says "old drivers"

hope that helps oh and its the Version - 5.20C drivers you want
