Help With Ki-emux Beta 2.1
« on: April 06, 2005, 05:08:00 AM »

Hi all,

I'm a huge fan of Killer Instinct, played the game for ages. When I found out a long time ago there was an emulator for it on PC, I was extatic (I only played the game in the arcade). But playing that game with a keyboard was hell.

Not so long ago I found out that there was an emulator for xbox too. So I searched a bit, found and installed it. Everything works fine. The emulator starts, I choose my game (Ki1 or 2), the game starts and I can play.
But whenever I finish 1 round of the game (whether I win or lose), it hangs. Please help me with this, because I'm desperate to play this game.

Thanx!!!! <

Have you used the DATs included in the package to ensure you're using the correct ROMs. 90% of the time, problems like this are caused by using the wrong version of the boot ROM. <

Hi,

This may be a dumb question but what do I have to do with these DAT files?
Also I redownloaded the rom files so that I have v1.5. But I'm not sure which version the image file KI.IMG is, i downloaded it seperatly.

I do have a CHD file that is v1.5 but that's not compatibel with the emulator yet, right?

finally I made sure that in game reset is turned off in my evelution x dashboard.

Any suggestions?

Thanx!! <

To use the DATs you'll need either Romcenter or ClrMame Pro, both are rom manager programs. Just load the DAT for your chosen program and point it to your rom zip file (not the HD image). You should now be able to see if you have the most compatible romset. <

And just for giggles, PIA, consider the following little-known secret:

I've heard through the rumor mill that if you use a Likklebaer themed skin/ UI with this emulator loading times decrease and hidden characters are unlocked!

This could just be a vicious rumor, however...ahemm. <

Hi,
I used the DAT-files to check my roms and they seem to be ok.
But do I have to leave the files in the zips or not? I tried everything, leaving them in the zips, unzipping them, all to no avail.

The game always seems to hang somewhere. If I unzip the files, then the game doesn't even start anymore. I get the loading screen. Then the screen turns black for a moment. Finally I get a blue screen and it stays that way.
If I leave the files zipped then the game hangs on the loading screen.

I have two zips: 1 KI.ZIP with all the necessary rom files and 1 KI_HDD.ZIP with the image file.

Please help!!!!! <
