1. Read the pinned topics, that's answered there.

2. No, your original BC XBOX1 games will work fine, given they are on the list of BC games for the 360. The problems only seem to be with backups (at least AFAIK), I haven't encountered one problem with my original XBOX1 games personally, only the backups.

BTW, don't think this has been asked or stated, but will the FW boot a DL regular XBOX1 backup (not an Xtreme 360 backup)? I tried backing up Splinter Cell Chaos Theory with MooGUI and used a layout file but when I go to build the ISO the batch file starts and immediately says something about checking to see if it will fit, then says "this image will not fit on DVD-R" and aborts the operation. I don't like cutting files out, so if I can't put it on a DL like a normal XBOX1 backup I'll just make an Xtreme DL backup.

Not sure. Its one of those things no one does anyways, so we havnt bothered to test.

Some games that I successfully played with single layer:
  • Half-Life 2
  • Scarface
  • Flatout
I used some cheap-ass discs, Nashua Dvd+Rw and Samsung Dvd+R. These gave a lot of dirty disc errors and the drive is also ticking all the time, the loading times are also very long.
I'm thinking of buying some better discs. Which would you recommend? I've read in this topic that discs with a mediacode Ritek or CMC are good, if you use these do you still have problems with long loading times and dirty disc errors?

So which are the best discs to use for Single Layer?

Mortal Kombat Deception PAL works:

use moogui to build iso with layout file
-put pad iso to 4.38GB ON
-put outer egde integrity buffer 20MB ON

Burned iso with CloneCD on a Platinum DVD+R disc @ 6x speed, booktype set to dvd-r
burner used: NEC 1693s with latest firmware.

CMC is usually crap. Verbatim are always good, ritek. I've honestly not found any media that doesnt work for xb1 in my 360...even cheapy TEON.

I only use Taiyo Yudens. Have been since CD-R days.

Dual Layer = Verbatim.

Um yeah, just flash orig.bin and be sure to use the enable 0800 disc to unlock the FW so you can flash.

I've flashed a ms25 drive to x52c fw and at first it ran backups just fine. However the drive has suddenly started making shearing noises and my discs are being scratched.

Could this be down to the firmware update?

there could be a bunch of reasons and the firmware is not one of them.
are you using labels on the discs?  have you moved the console around and possibly bronke something inside?
and the stupid question would be, have you moved the console while it was on?

I do have a full disc label on some of them, but this has not been a problem before.

Previously I was using firmware v1.0 and only now have I updated my drive.

applying labels is such a bad idea.  It is almost impossible to center them 100% and when they are off a little, it wreaks havok on your drive.  Including wearing down the motor, laser, and scratching discs.  It could almost be since you were using them it caused the drive to spin unevenly and now it is scratching discs.  I could be way off, but sounds like the culprit to me.
I have a real hard time believing(sp?) its the firmware.

i have xtreme 41b already installed, and i wish to update to the 5.2d for xbox 1 games, i know i have to burn the Enable0800 disc in order to have access to the firmware again, so my question is the Enable0800 should be written on a DVDR+DL or an normal DVD is ok ? other question is anybody knows if SIS695 is compatible ? coz at least MTKFlash detects, but when i was trying to use it without the Enable0800 it hangs and donĀ“t read anything.

thanks in advanced
