ILLPLEASA,
I couldn't quite figure out what your results were when you tested the disc's with 5.1D firmware.
when I plotted everything...
default.xbe    |disc contents    |layout file   |dvd media   |working(5.2)?   |working(5.0B)?   |working(5.1D)?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cousin's   |ILLPLEASA   |Online      |+RW         |Yes      |No           |?
Cousin's   |ILLPLEASA   |Online      |-R            |No        |No              |?
ILLPLEASA     |ILLPLEASA         |Online        |+RW            |Yes      |No         |?
ILLPLEASA     |ILLPLEASA         |Online        |-R                 |No      |No            |?
Cousin's   |Cousin's     |Online     |-R              |Yes      |No         |Yes

1)Cousin's |ILLPLEASA |Online |+RW |Yes |No |?    === Wasn't Tested

2)Cousin's |ILLPLEASA |Online |-R |No |No |?         === Same errors as always

3)ILLPLEASA |ILLPLEASA |Online |+RW |Yes |No |? === Wasn't Tested

4)ILLPLEASA |ILLPLEASA |Online |-R |No |No |?      === First time I put the disc in, it worked fine. Next 4 attempts I put the disc in, did not work got same errors I always got before.

5)Cousin's |Cousin's |Online |-R |Yes |No |Yes        === Works Fine

The only DVD+RW iso that was tested using the 5.1d and 5.0 Firmwares flashed on my Samsung came entirely from my cousins disc. Meaning all his files (including his default.xbe was expected)

QUOTE(TiOeM @ Jan 16 2007, 04:26 AM) *

Anyway, I looked at the layout file online and the layout file seems to provide the LBA locations of where every file should be located on disc. Now if this layout file was made for a certain version, the game files could be overlapping(possibly different game file sizes somewhere on the disc) and the game is searching for files on the wrong location

Could you test the disc by fixing the LBA locations on the layout file. Just zeroing out the LBA sector would fix this. EXAMPLE

D,\,0,0
F,\default.xbe,4018176,0
D,\models,0,350514
F,\models\fonts.txd,524840,0
F,\models\hud2.txd,552,0
...

Oh...if the disc file contents are different sizes...then this layout file will not work anyway....it also provides the file size. So you gonna need to created your own with the MooGUI dumper

Your theories on the different LBA locations sound interesting. (For example I notice on 2 different versions of Jade Empire, the number of files are the same however on one ISO, there are about 14 more folders than another, all empty however....)

Going back to my post #214, I stated that:

"Out of a total of 4 used, my only DVD-R disc that worked with GTA:SA without a problem was made with my cousins retail disc which I extracted all the files from (including his own default.xbe that had a different MD5 from my own)

However, when those same ISO's were burned onto my DVD+RW media, every single one loaded up and worked without any problems..."

I don't know how fixing the LBA locations would make those backups work that was already tested to work on DVD+RW any better on DVD-R however... Maybe I'm missing something though..

Im not really sure what needs to be better? I've yet to come across a game that doesnt work, that has not worked for someone else, or been confirmed working by us. As far as 'better dvd5 support', im not sure what you mean? The reading of media is the best its gonna get.

As far as whats brewing (which is not yet confirmed or working) ...MIGHT be region free dvd playing and old qwix style backup support.

If either happen, it will be a little while.

what about SL DVD backup for 360 games?

It's already possible from the firmware standpoint, the issue is the actual ripping/converting the rip into a file iso.  I think the lack of support is more on the creation of an image for a SL DVD, not the firmware to play it.

Hello guys,

quick question.

I have a sammy ms25 with xtreme 3.3.

I wanna go to 5.2 ,but when I went to prep my fw it asked me the following:

Report as:

ms28 (default)

ms25

and some other stuff. Which option is for me? I'm asking because I think i read somewhere that all firmware code is taken from ms28 firmware.

Please only answer if you done it on your own drive or are 100% sure.

I don't wanna brick my drive biggrin.gif

Thanks!

Im not really sure what your hesitant about. You have a ms25. You want it to report as it is. The fact that its based on ms28 is the precise reason why you want it to report as ms25.

Hello, I have a Ts  ms25 drive, and flashed with xtreme 5.2C, using xtreme bootmaker. Drive flashed ok, boots up games and backups,, but when i power cycle the console the dvd drive doesnt spin up till i press the eject button. and sometimes gives errror 65.  The drive also gets stuck in slow boot mode for backups, when it should be defaulted to full speed. 90% of the time the drive reads backups/originals fine, but if i turn the console on and off, the dvd drive is basicallly off , untill the eject button is pressed and the odd time throws e65, and once saw e64. anyone else have these issues. I was thinkin of trying to flash the 5.2A on there (default fast all). anyone have ideas. sometimes the tray will eject, put disk in,, but wont spin up either. ? had no problems with drive before firmware flash, and no errors when flashed. Once the console is on i can swap games no problem without issue. Is this a bug wit the firmware?

Media Brand Used

Verbatim DVD-R (MCC-03RG20) (up to 16x) (Last disc of the spindle (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif))
- Burned disc at 'Write Strategy Speed' of 4x as stated in DvdInfo.

DVD Burner Used

Toshiba SD-R5372 (TU56 Firmware)

XBOX 360 Drive

Console Region: NTSC
TS-H943 Firmware: MS25
Manufacturer Date: March 2006

Firmware Version Backups are Tested With

Xtreme Firmware 5.2d

Method of Acquiring Backup

- FTP'ed from XBOX 1 onto computer.
- Used XbeFix 1.0 to verify correct .xbe files and fix the patched .xbe ones (if any).
- Downloaded the Raw Dump Layout Files from the Xbox Game Disc Layout Site that IRIEZ posted a link to on his first post of this thread for each game I was burning.
- Ran MooGUI 1.3.0. Optimized the layout I downloaded to remove all of the Demo files that this release removed.
- Made an ISO with my optimized layout plus the 'Pad ISO to 4.38GB' and 'Outer Edge Integrity Buffer 20MB' options toggled in MooGUI.
- Used ImgBurn 2.1.0.0 to burn the ISO at 'Write Strategy Speed' of 4x as stated in DvdInfo.

Backup Title with MD5 of Default.xbe and Description of Games that Work

01) Scarface: The World is Yours (NTSC) MD5= 9775d859631ab228d083c5a4a1e62274

- Plays without any noticeable problems as of yet.

Finally got around to playing through a bit of my retail copy of Conker in order to get a game save on my HDD past the unskippable introduction cinema scenes when you start a new game that would make my backup crash before (Post#198 for details)..

After that I decided to pop in my backup that didn't work past the intro scene before and the game was playing fine. I played through for about 30 minutes including more cinema scenes without a problem.. Whenever I try to start a new game however, it still crashes on the intro cinema scene.

So my backup works good if you play with your original first and then play with your backup after you save past the intro scene.

Regardless of the fact,  since the entire game does go past the 4.5gb DVD5 limit (Just barely though as ripping out a few files will put it just under the limit) and since I still had problems running this game on my DVD+RW , I just ended up making an Xtreme DL backup that works flawlessly through everything including the intro scene...

Here's my Conker Live and Reloaded MD5 for those interested = bef7653560b9638667ea8f72ed63bfd4

If its a bug, your the first to have it. Try flashing 5.0a/c and tell us if you experience the same issues.

Seems very clear to me that you are either A: Removing neccessary files to make it fit to SL, or B: using a layout file that is missing files/different md5s or versions/LBA screwup.

Remove the dashupdate and demo's if it has any, if not, dont touch the data files. That will definitly make the game crash. I would always suggest trying a game without layout files first, and if it runs fine, dont fix what isnt broken smile.gif

Remember, there's others here who got the game to work fine. If your's works on DL, its not a md5 issue, its simply missing files or structure problems.

The layout that I used for Conker is the NTSC Manually Optimized one found on the Xbox Game Disc Layout Site and it states the following in its description: "Layer optimized type1, ripped XBL Files in order to fit on DVDR."  When I verified the layout file based on all the folder of the files that were extracted from the original disc it showed that the following files were taken out:

1) F,\dashupdate.xbe
2) F,\media\AriaUni.Ttf
3) F,\media\dlcustom.xpr
4) F,\media\Sound.xsb
5) F,\media\Wave.xwb
6) F,\update.xbe

None of which are contained in the dvddata folder...

However, remember I have stated before that I have gotten these backups to read perfectly on my original Xbox.. Unless there are some files being ripped that was not needed on the original xbox but needed on the xbox360, then I don't think that I took out any necessary files... I could be wrong though..

BTW Iriez, That second assumption of yours just reminded me that the only backup I ever tested which wasn't used with a downloaded layout (and MooGUI with padding and outer edge integrity buffer enabled) was HALO:Combat Evolved (my first single layer backup attempt on the 360). Halo was made with GDFImage and worked great.

I'm going to start from scratch and test out Conker made with SimpleXISO (v03) which you recommended on your first post in this thread and as I'm guessing works the exact same way as GDFImage does for ISO creation...

This ISO will then be burned onto my DVD+RW.. I will post results later on today.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Media Brand Used

First was tested on Ridata DVD+RW (RICOHJPN\W1) (4x)
- If backup worked then ISO was burned on the following media:

Verbatim DVD+R (MCC\004) (up to 16x)
- Burned disc at 4x.

DVD Burner Used

Toshiba SD-R5372 (TU56 Firmware)

XBOX 360 Drive

Console Region: NTSC
TS-H943 Firmware: MS25
Manufacturer Date: March 2006

Firmware Version Backups are Tested With

Xtreme Firmware 5.2d

Method of Acquiring Backup

01) The Punisher (NTSC)
 - Plays without any noticeable problems as of yet.

02) Manhunt (NTSC)
 - Plays without any noticeable problems as of yet.

 ________________________________________________________________________________

Conker: Live and Reloaded Retesting Results:

Redumped Conker: Live and Reloaded and made an ISO of it using SimpleXISO (instead of using MooGUI with the previously tested out Layout file).

Removed files listed in post #251 to make it fit onto a DVD5 and burned the ISO onto my DVD+RW media (info on this media at the beginning of this post).

Testing had inconsistent results. Game would crash on different parts. Sometimes it would get to the main menu. Other times it wouldnt.

This will pretty much be my last test with Conker as I already have a Xtreme DL version working correctly..

 ________________________________________________________________________________

Half-Life 2 Retesting Results:

Retested Half-Life 2 twice on my DVD+RW (info on this media at the beginning of this post) this time instead of a DVD-R as was tested previously.

1st time was with the downloaded layout. Same problems as before (Look @ Post #198 for details).

2nd time was with ISO made with with the SimpleXISO program. This ISO also had the same problems as posted on #198.

 ________________________________________________________________________________

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Retesting Results:

Retested Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on my DVD+RW (info on this media at the beginning of this post) this time instead of a DVD-R as was tested previously. Used the same downloaded Manually Optimized Layout file that I did during Post#198.

Only difference between the two tests is the media...Made ISO with MooGUI and burned it onto DVD+RW media. Loaded it into Xbox 360 and got same error as posted in #198.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*** P.S. On my post #248 I wrote that I used "an optimized layout to remove demo files" for Scarface: The World Is Yours when in reality I used the normal NTSC layout with every single file intact.

The mistake was that I copied and pasted from a previous post  and didn't notice I left the part about the optimized layout in there.. Sorry bout that and any confusion that could've caused...***

Couple more to add to the list.

Made image of Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike using GDFImage and GDFGUI, didn't work, crashed when loading giving me the ingame DDE error.

Made image of Rainbow Six 3 using GDFImage and GDFGUI, didn't work, crashed when loading giving me the ingame DDE error.

With both images I grabbed a layout file and MooGUI (which I had never used) and rebuilt the ISO. Both images work fine after doing this. I think MooGUI and layout files is the best way to backup an XBOX1 game now.

Last working GDFImage image I made was Ghost Recon Island Thunder, that works fine BTW.

Made an image of Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow using MooGUI and layout files, works perfect.

All of these are with the same settings.

NTSC console with ms25 drive running 5.2b
Pioneer 111D burning to Verbatim DVD-R 16X printable discs with Alcohol 120% at 4X speed

BTW, don't think this has been asked or stated, but will the FW boot a DL regular XBOX1 backup (not an Xtreme 360 backup)? I tried backing up Splinter Cell Chaos Theory with MooGUI and used a layout file but when I go to build the ISO the batch file starts and immediately says something about checking to see if it will fit, then says "this image will not fit on DVD-R" and aborts the operation. I don't like cutting files out, so if I can't put it on a DL like a normal XBOX1 backup I'll just make an Xtreme DL backup.

I'm sorry, this will sound like a n00b post, and i apologize for it in advance, but I have 2 questions about this FW-

1. Detectable through XBL? Will it be, do you think? Does anyone know for sure? I'm just not wantin to be booted from XBL forever, although I could just go out and get another 360 if that was the case.

2. I see the postings and compatibility problem with XBOX 1 games- are those just copied ones, or could I have problems with my real/retail BC XBOX 1 games? Because if it's having problems with just the backups of XBOX1 then I don't really mind, I have a modded XBOX1 for that smile.gif

Anyway, flame me if you must, I've been lookin around for answers to my questions for a couple days and never got concrete response, so yea, at least someone point me in the right direction, or to another post or article about this.
