Xtreme firmware 5.2 for TS-H943
Posted by Iriez | January 2 00:44 EST

A new firmware release for the Toshiba-Samsung xbox360 drive...

(v5.2)  Disc-LockOn added for chronic open tray consoles.
(v5.2)  DVD Video disc problems fixed.

The new "Disc-LockOn" feature was specifically written for troublesome ms28 drives that refuse to boot all types of media. Disc-LockOn is additional laser calibration performed when disc inserted returns a cannot identify disc type error. This will not make a bad laser good, but it is the best you're going to get via software.

As always, this firmware release is not guaranteed against bugs. c4e has worked dilligently at fixing all of the xbox1 errors, but some DO still exist. For right now we think this needs to be released to fix the majority of issues out there (and open tray fix, toggle speed back, in the mix!). There is NO ETA on when or if xtreme will fully boot ALL supported xb1 titles without dde issues....

But! You can help! We are trying to compile a list of backups that have issues (does not load, dde at specific places in/starting at levels). Please Let us know the following information when you post! Remember, this is IMPORTANT for us to resolve these bugs!

1: Media brand used
2: Burner used (and what firmware revision if you can)
3: Drive (ms25 or ms28), Console region (PAL or NTSC) and manufacter date please.
4: Which firmware you tested with (5.1a, 5.1c etc)
5: Backup game title, plus region (Halo, PAL or Halo, NTSC)

All of the above data is relevent to c4e resolving the bugs. So PLEASE be sure to include it! Also, let us know your success! We always want to hear that things are working right smile.gif

For anyone having dde or stuttering in games, We have found that using layouts can resolve alot of these issues. Please visit Here to get the layout files, and grab MooGUI in order to use them!

Give SimpleXiso a try if you cannot find the layout you need, but know that layouts are indeed the most optimal iso you could possibly create!

Also, it has been mentioned that alot of open tray error's have been fixed by using Xbox Backup Creator 2.2. Please understand while 5.2 adresses open tray as a error, know that open tray is a valid response! Not all open tray errors are in relation to firmware. Often times it is entirely related to media, quality of drive lens, etc. The firmware has merely enhanced the reading method of the game in order to prevent MOST open tray issues.

xbox360 Single Layer iso support is next on the list, so hopefully 5.3 will see the light of day in not too long!

I have decided to make a compatibility list here! I will post confirmed results as i get them, so PLEASE post what games you have successfully played, or what games do NOT work! Be specific in your results, by including what program you used to build the iso (or if it was a scene rip), media you used, drive model, and any relevent details of the game, e.g. 'gave dde on this level' or 'cannot boot past loading screen, it freezes' or 'played game successfully to level 5' etc.

CONFIRMED WORKING XBOX 1 GAMES:

007 Nightfire
Air Force Storm
Black = worked through all 1st level no dde's
Crash Twinsanity (small amount of stuttering, occurs using original disc aswell)
Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
DOA3
Doom 3
Fable
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Director's Cut
Forza
Frogger Beyond
Fuzion Frenzy
GTA - SA (Works with mod's too, however if you have a previous save on your 360 HD before booting backup, it will not boot)
GTA III
HalfLife
Halflife 2
Halo
Halo 2 (If you have dde or freeze probs, use Halo 2_Ntsc.lyt . In order to fit on SL you will need to replace dashupdate.xbe with default.xbe (renamed) and edit the .lyt file BEFORE to match the new size, e.g. before -F,\dashupdate.xbe,58421248,354104 ... after F,\dashupdate.xbe,4861952,1713258 ) Also, i confirmed the md5 of this xbe working - F87C933EC844F57AE9A9CEBEC7C31410 *default.xbe , if yours is NTSC and doesnt match, it may not work)
Indigo Prophecy
Jade Empire
House of the Dead III
Mortal Kombat Armageddon (Works, but needs to be burned with layout files in order to boot and play - Mortal Kombat 7_Ntsc.lyt confirmed working)
MX VS. ATV UNLEASHED
Ninja Gaiden
Ninja Gaiden Black
Over The Hedge
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Pure Pinball
Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow
Scarface
Shenmue 2
Silent Hill 4: The Room
Sniper Elite
Soul Calibur 2
Splinter Cell : Double agent
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II
Ty the tasmanian tiger 2
Ty the tasmanian tiger 3

Not Working:
None confirmed yet

The new "Disc-LockOn" feature was specifically written for troublesome ms28 drives that refuse to boot all types of media.

So does that mean this feature does not benefit the MS25 in the same way or at not at all?

I would like to hear from anyone that did the rubberband fix to find out if they can now remove it now?

Thanks C4E !

It should work for MS25 drives because after they are flashed, there is no difference between an MS28 and an MS25.

Great firmware, but why is there an old version (v0.2) of X360sam.exe in the rar file, wouldn't v0.6 work better? And next time he could maybe use the "create solid archive" option to create the rar file, the rar will then be 77 Kbyte instread of 1.71 Mbyte.

if this still does not work , use the rubberband or stopper trick, what is happening is your lazer is reading to far in to the center of the disc, you can stop this by blocking it with a rubber band i'm sure you've seen tutorials. i used a ruber stopper and got it to boot every game when I used to get open tray 70% of time now all my back ups run 100% of time. I will still upgrade to this f/w  as it is newer and hopefully more reliable.
