Enable0800 - Questions
« on: December 29, 2006, 05:10:00 PM »

can any of you intelligent people answer a few questions for me, i've read the readme.txt included with xtreme 5.1 release and looked on these boards but im jsut not grasping the idea.

1) What is enable0800?

2) i understand that with Xtreme 5.1 if i insert one of my original games / DVD's the firmware changes itself to enable0800 - is that correct?

3) if the above is correct why would i need to enable0800 , how will it benefit me?

4) when my Samsung SH-D162C arrives , then is flashed with 0.81 , how will enable0800 impact on my backups?

Any help at all would be appreciated... and i mean any! thanks guys.

1) It enables you to read/write from/to a Samsung drive that is already flashed with 4.x and higher.
2) No.
3) -
4) It wont affect you at all. You still need to use 0800 for read/write to your 360 drive.

A little searching will help you and you should read more after I try to explain.

1. enable 0800 is to UNLOCK the drive once flashed with firmware 4.0 and HIGHER.
4.0-4.3 you need to burn the enable.iso onto a DUAL LAYER dvd
5.0-5.1 you CAN burn the enable to a dvd-r single later if you want to or dual layer
once flashed with these firmwares , the drive now has FIRMGAURD which stops the drives firmware
from being written to or read from... so you stick in the enable iso disk ... then take it out and your drive will be unlocked allowing flashing to proceed.   This is if you want to change the firmware or update it etc etc.
also for making backups.

2. no this is not correct.  You can stick in a original game ... start it.. take it out and put in a backup game and it will read at a different speed.   4.0-5.1 have the ability to change speeds of reading the disks.  So depending on which version of these firmwares you flash with  putting in a original game and taking it out and putting in your backup could make it read faster or slower (again depending on which VERSION of the 4.0-5.1 you choose to flash with.)

3. above is not correct... so no answer here on 3.

4.  once you receive that drive you will not need to use the enable iso to create your backups because the enable iso UNLOCKS the 360 dvd drive so that IT can be seen in windows so you can use THAT 360 dvd drive to make your backups.   Since you will be using a different dvd drive your enable.iso disk will only be used for making changes to your firmware flashing.

Hope this makes sense.. like I said you should read a little more just to make sure you got it.

really appreciate the reply

so enable0800 is only needed to flash my drive ? it has nothing to do with backing up my games?

As I wrote it is required to also READ from that drive. Reading is either for game backups or backing up your firmware.

When you get your new PC drive, you only need 0800 for your 360 drive when reading/writing firmware.

excellent reply.... it kinda makes more sense....

My xbox 360 drive is flashed with Xtreme 5.1a.

so in order for me to do future flashs's to the drive i will have to UNLOCK the drive with enable0800?

why would i burn the enable to a DL or SL DVDR? - for what purpose?

I can honeslty say this is the hardest thing i've had to try to understand, i've been on here for 36hrs as a member , i've stripped my xbox 360 flashed the drives, gotten to know all the tools etc... with the exception of this it still baffles me m8e.... really appreciate your help thankyou.

Right so... if i were to back up fight night round 3 right now, i would have to enable0800 in order for windows to pick up my drive?

cheers for the reply m8e

from readme.txt in xtreme 5.1 rar.

"ISO image Enable0800.iso is available in Xtreme 4.2 or below. Just burn and insert into drive when you wish to extract security sectors or dump games."

so if i need to backup a game i need to burn Enable0800.iso to a DVDR put it in my xbox 360 drive. then....

oh this is doin my brains in sorry guys...

its ok everythings jsut clicked guys... i should be a blonde (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jester.gif)

YES.

flash the 360.

turn it on make sure it works with original games.

turn off 360

connect 360 dvd drive to pc via sata cable and power via xbox (for example)

turn on xbox and stick in the BURNED enable disk... you will start to here it spin..

take the disk out...

turn on the pc... (should see the 360 drive posting in the bios while pc is booting)

once booted to windows you should see your 360 dvd drive IN WINDOWS...

once drive is seen in windows you go about backing up your games the way the tutorials say.

you might have to play around with how long the enable disk stays in the 360 drive ... or maybe you put the disk in the 360 drive and IMMEDIATELY turn on the pc while the disk is spinning... others are able to put the disk in... then take it out.. then turn on the pc... the timing is a little different for everyone...   Mine personally would not be recognized if I waited 10 seconds before taking out the disk.. for me it was like 5 or so... and I had to turn on the pc like while the drive was spinning reading the disk.

Like it has been said though... once you have that new pc dvd drive you will not need the enable iso to produce backups.   because you will use the new pc dvd drive to make backups.

according to the info i've read so far, no as you dont have extreme 4.0 to 4.3 you can simply flash your drive to 5.1 without having to enable0800 as this wasnt implemented (firmguard) until 4.0

from 3.3 to 5.1 yes because there's no firmguard on 3.3

No you do not need the enable iso to flash your drive.

enable iso started in 4.0 and higher...

you can go from 3.3 to 5.1 fine because samsung firmwares are fully reflashed while hitachi's are patched... so you can update from any firmware on samsungs because it is basically erasing and replacing... with hitachis they do have to worry about updating before going back to original in some cases.

Remember if you have a ms25 drive and you flash with 5.1 make sure you choose that the firmware REPORTS as a ms25 drive because 4.0 and higher are based off ms28 ... don't want you to get a e66 error (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
5.1 has this option when using it.   5.1 is very easy to understand.

I flashed my drive doing the following:

used Xtreme book maker checking the options use custom  MTKflash, MS28 Bad Flash compatability and apply brooks patch for ms28 drives. then Mtkflash r /m orig.bin then mtkflash w /m xtreme.bin (5.1a)

i have a ms25 drive!

will i have an e66 error when trying a backed up game? i've had my 360 since feb so MS mustnt have had my Fw on record and my dashboard is 100% up to date.

nono... you would have had it when booting the xbox..
you are correct and I did not state that part but you knew it anyway...

boxes made before may 2006 do not have this issue with the drive reporting as the original... only boxes made may 2006 - current are able to do this.

If you had yours in feb then your manufacture date is at least before that so no may for you... you do not get the e66 error on booting and you are all up to date on xbox live updates (ONLINE updates) then you are good to go.

if your box boots original games after this flash you did then you are really! good to go  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
