Hi! I'll get my 360 tomorrow and i want to know some stuff about this new firmware.
Whats the best version for me to use? 5.0A,5.0B,5.0C or 5.0D? I will only play backup games for now and i want quite/slow speed for then as i heard that it helps the 360 be cooler.
I live in a very hot town. And if i put it in quite/slow mod it will make the games slower too?
And the tutorial for installing the firmware, may i follow this one - http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=514944 for the 5.1 version?
Or do u recommend me another one?
Sorry for my confusing english (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Hehe upgraded from 2.0 here and finally had the balls to get the latest live update.  So far so good!
Mortal Kombat Armageddon works flawlessly when it boots (Get DDE at startup half the time).
Thanks again, Xtreme team.

**edit
Mortal Kombat Armageddon was backed up via FlashFXP, ISO created with Craxtion 4.0 (XBEs untouched), burned with CloneCD on an 8x (Barf) Memorex DVD+R.
MS25

Hey guys,

Quick questions new to the 360 scene: With this Flash what are the differences when playing back-up games??

Can i play for instance a downloaded back-up of fifa on live, even though I'm using a USA back-up as opposed  to my local Australia copy. And will this be able to play against other Australian live users??

also what are the main difficulties in making back-ups of xbox 360 games? if I'm using dual layer disc is it relative reliable?

I guess I got my xbox360 just in time for this awesome release.
Thanks C4e and everyone else here.

I was just hoping to get a walk-through on how to flash a fresh stock ms25 with this firmware, because all of the other guides talk about older firmwares and none talk about 5.x.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thank You,
Cory

hi cory, i think the readme file mentioned a little bit on how to flash your m25 drive.  use it as s supplement to Textbook's tutorial.  it would be easier to flash from stock m25 to v5.x compared to like v4.x to v5.x.  cheers!

hi people, a belated Merry Xmas to all.  i just like to know if anyone managed to successfully backed up an xbox1 game onto a DVD+RW or DVD-RW media and play it with this xtreme v5.x?

ntsc/j 360
firmware 5.1C reported as ms25
ricoh dvd+rw (SL), ritek dvd+r (DL)
burned with LG H12N

tested xbox1 games on dvd+rw: forza, halflife2, halo
all working perfectly. btw, my ntsc/j halo couldn't fit into one disc so had to replace some videos with blank biks. previously with 5.0, none of them worked and was getting dde with some 360 games on ritek media. now everything is back to normal.

thanks C4E!!

For halo2, simply remove the dashupdate and update.xbe and it will fit on SL. No need to remove video's, that will just give you dde's.

As for the other person that mentioned halo 2 giving you a dde, i wanted to confirm that it is fully playable, tested by many people. Read my first post for suggestions on getting it to work.

Guys correct me if Im wrong but this DOES NOT WORK ON Hitachi

To clarify, the ONLY reason there are 'report as <insert hitachi version here>' files, are to prevent e66's from occuring after a recent live update. If your xbox360 was originally manufactored with a hitachi 47DH, and then was refurbished with a sammy ms25, then you'll need to make a xtreme to report as hitachi 47DH, NOT ms25. This will prevent e66.

And there are NO requests allowed for firmware.

I've seen halo confirmed as working but not halo 2

halo 2 goes intot he menu, you create a profile etc. then select campaign then select difficutly it says 'sorry we are having trouble reading your disc it mya be blah blah bla'

i got gta - sa working and black working

but halo 2 keeps giving me dde's....

How do i get it to work?

Ok nothing xbox1 backups work.
I have Pioneer 111D Crossflashed to DVR-111L
using clonecd works great for dl backups not one coaster
original 360 boot original xbox1 boot
here is a list of the disk I have tried

MBI 01RG20 dvd-r
CMC MAG. AF1 dvd-r
PRINCO dvd-r
MBI 01RG20 dvd-r
CMC MAG F01 dvd+r reports as dvdrom
UME01 dvd-r
RITEKG03 dvd-r
RICOHJPNLR0 dvd+r as dvdrom
OPTODISCLOP dvd+rw

Same game different results .about 50% DDE other rev up and down then open tray error

Created disk with gdf original supported game .

This is the exact same problem I had with 5.0  5.1 does exactly the same thing
50 various brands of disk burned NONE work

Quick note all the different disk above if I burn a movie onto the disk they ALL work

Ok, i wanted to clarify what you posted (english is a bit rusty (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

All those brand dvd-r you tried for a single game? Or multiple games? If so, what game/games. If you got a DDE, then the game booted, as you cannot get a dde unless you've gotten to a portion of the game. So im failing to understand why you say none of them work?

Also, what do you mean about burning a movie onto the disc? Can you expand (and clarify)? I have no idea what you mean.

Why do people get so touchy as soon as you say download??

I was referring to downloading a back-up as opposed to making my own, because it is more convenient...
If it makes it better, lets say, I bought Fifa overseas and brought it back home to play on my flashed xbox, would it be possible to play this back-up version of fifa on my australian xbox360 on live?

Also what are the main dificulties I hear people talk about? What would be the eastiest way to make reliable back-ups of games?

don't mean too sound like an ass here but could someone explain the xbox live situation to me? will it be available to people with the hacked firmware in the future as I presume it isn't  available now.

I have looked for info, to no avail so I presume it isn't  available.

as far as I am concerned that would be a massive breakthrough.

cheers yall.

Still nothing works
I tried new media Memorex
I tried fixxbe and used clonecd, imgburn ect ect
I made the iso with quix ,craxton and every xbox iso making program i could download.
Nothing works Disk read error on every disk made
Have flashed all 4 5.1 firmwares and none make any difference
flashed as ms28 and ms25 notta
just tried another dvd rw RITEK   004
still same thing DRE all the way!

First, what i need to know is...
Have you installed a previous firmware that DOES work? I ask because i have seen some drives that absolutly REFUSE to boot recordable dvd. Have you tried xtreme 1.0 ? First version? 3.3? 4.2? For now, just test with your ritek RW ...it SHOULD work, as i have confirmed RW functioning fine.

Also, please test this out. We have confirmed some games that give dre's or have stutter issues CAN be resolved by using layouts!

visit Here to get the layout files, and grab MooGUI in order to use them! Please test with a fully working confirmed release like halo.

I tried to make a back-up copy of halo2 (PAL xbox360)

I made the ISO with gdfimage ---> it didn't work (DDE)
Then I tried to make the ISO with SimpleX ISO v0.3 ---> IT WORKS

I tried using some dvd+rw media

Can anyone confirm that halo2 works if the iso is made with that program?
sry for my dumb english

Try the above mentioned program. But you'll have to delete dashupdate.xbe / update.xbe to make it fit on SL

QUOTE(foaley77 @ Dec 26 2006, 04:57 PM) *

I don't care for Xbox 1 games working on single dvd-r is there much point me updating from 4.2 to this release?

Not unless you have open tray issues.

QUOTE(modistru @ Dec 26 2006, 02:51 PM) *

First and foremost, kudos to c4e and 'support staff' for your continued great work.  Thank you for sharing.  Thanks much for the return of speed switching.

SL Backup Results:
All media tested - drive can't read the disc (spin-up/spin-down cycles lasting a second or so).  I get this same behavior with DVD movie backups too for all tested media.  The media I've tried is obviously not compatible with my drive.  I have yet to witness a successful test with many different types of media on v5.x so far.  All discs made (game/movie) work OK in the XB1.

Requested Info:
Media: Taiyo Yuden-R(8x), TDK-R(2x), Sony-RW(2x), TDK-RW(4x), JVC-RW(4x)
Burner: Pioneer 111D (fw 1.19)
X360: 5.1c on MS28.  Reporting as a HT46 on a heatgun repaired NTSC/U Oct-2005
Backups Tried: Halo NTSC/U, Links2004 NTSC/U, DVD movie (NTSC)

Also, i forgot to mention...

Have you guys tested the original firmware for the drive to see if it plays originals? One of the main(and most common) issues with the above problems is that your key is incorrect. The following reasons that could happen is...

A: You didnt bother patching the key at all.
B: the program you used corrupted it
C: the dump of your original firmware became corrupted while reading, and therefore patching of the key has become corrupted aswell.

PLEASE verify that your key is correct!! You can do so by using firmware toolbox 3.0 to copy the key from your current firmware to a original UN-HACKED firmware to the drive. If you are about to tell me that you dont have any originals to test, then i would tell you to bring your problems elsewhere (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) We dont support outright pirates here!

IMPORTANT NOTE - Your key DOES NOT have to be correct in order to play dvd movies!!! That is NOT a appropriate testing proceedure.

Just to clarify, YES "downloading" a game when you own a original is still considered illegal under the DMCA and  EULA. Secondly, especially since its not even your region. Making your own backups is still a 'gray area', simply because even though you are permitted to backup  your copies, there are so many hot legal battles going on that it could be overwritten in a year anyways.

Secondly, you cannot overcome regional compatibility with dvd-drive firmware. Those checks are inside the kernel, which is untouchable as of now. What that means, is that no, a NTSC copy will not work on your PAL, UNLESS the game is region free.

How about you reply to my post?

Regarding the above statement, I would like to clarify something for you....

e66 is simply a error displayed after a failed return value when reported drive version does not match originally installed drive. It is easily fixable by reflashing the drive.

It is 100% your fault that you did not flash the correct "report as" firmware to your ms25.

Regarding 360 games freezing...

The code to both boot, AND play original xbox360 games is untouched. Why would you possibly think it WOULD be altered? Therefore, all original code in regards to that, remains untouched. Also, I have yet to see a single person (in the entire existance of xtreme ...not just 5.x) report that a original is having problems.

So, with that said, I would like to make a logical deduction...

Since you apparently cannot even follow a prompt in 1st grade level english in regards to what drive it should report as, I would deduce that most likely did not even bother patching your key. Perhaps you didnt even TRY to run the bat, and thought to just flash the bin?

If your 360 games are freezing, it would very likely suggest that you just have a piece of shit drive. Welcome to life. You get lemon's in life, just like i did a week ago with a ms28 that doesnt read a single dvd +/- R SL/DL ....sucks dont it? I would recommend getting a new drive.

Hi Iriez,

Thank you for taking the time to write me a very details and informative reply. I really appreciate it.

Further to what you've said though, I was curious about how live works.. Is it game Dependant, or system Dependant? I.E. If I am playing a pal version purchased in another from another country, will it still connect to my local live servers, if I was able to successfully get it up?

But would it be safe to assume, that if I made a back-up of a game that I own, that, the back-up would play fine on a flashed drive tru live?

Also, hearing all the trouble tru this thread, is it very difficult to make back-up's of games onto dual-layer media??

Kind regards
-Andrew
