I have tried to use 0800 disc on single layer which ixtreme 1.2c supports

iXtreme does not support SL media - same goes for the enable 0800 disc.

I have to say that using the Samsung instructions in the textbook was easier than this one.

Very basic quick run through is...

Open iPrep
Select the fw
Select USB stick and tick the box to make it bootable
Reboot PC and boot from USB
Plug PC Sata in to 360's drive
Power on 360
Dump fw (iDump 1234567 12345)
Select Sata device
Reboot PC & Xbox
Flash fw (iFlash 1234567 12345)
Reboot PC from HDD
Remove sata from pc to 360 & connect 360 back to 360
Turn on 360 & test
Copy ALL files from USB stick and burn to a CD.

It took me 10-15 mins (including taking the 360 apart for the first time too, and 5 mins was searching for the lost torx driver!!)

That works great except for the fact when it was in the middle of flashing bank 3 it hung at 00% forever.  This makes a nice drive(paperweight)  I have the sata card 6421 , have the orig.bin, have mtkflash w/iprep, have been tring to fix for 3 days now.  No problem reconizing the drive from MTKFLASH
1.IDE Sec Master
2.XTREME Pri Master

Then at this point is where I have tried a million combantions.

10sec trick, press 2, then turn on 360, watching the clock 10 sec, I just can not get flash ORIG.Bin to Start.
And yes i do have my ORIG.BIN  Idump worked fine.

Is this just a dead drive now???    By the way I am in IT.  unsure.gif  unsure.gif  unsure.gif

Mine went through with no problems at all although I wasn't watching the progress when flashing the banks so no idea how long it was on bank 3 for. It wasn't that long though.

If it is seeing the drive then surely it is flashable/recoverable somehow? (sorry I can't help there, I've only just started reading about this stuff).

Rich,

Funny thing is I have done about 5 360 with no issues.  Over the past year.   After the Bank 3 hung we had no options except reboot.

Causing drive to not funtion.   I have also heard the Rom can be corrected.  But I may be eaiser to just get a new DVD Drive and flash with Iprep using The previous idump backup files.

Well, if you are after another MS25 there is another post I literally just posted in about getting power from a PC to work on it, the guy may sell so there could be one up for grabs.

You can use mtkflash E to erase the firmware then you can flash without 10 sec for ms25(with 10 sec for ms28).It's impossible to brick a samsung while flashing even though flashing goes wrong.Try mtkflash E two times to make sure it's erased(do it with 2 reboots)

RichMR2 believe it or not, iprep has issues.Using mtkflash is the best way to flash

Which port are you using? You need to use the interior port not the exterior one(talking for 6421).

Yes.You first dump your firmware, get the key with maximus firmware toolbox 4.5 and prepare the firmware with ixtreme and finally flash it

Hey everyone. I was just wondering if you really have to differ inbetween the way you flash the MS25 and MS28 anymore? I use iPrep and after using the 10 second trick on an MS28 it says 'Your drive is now ready for flashing"... do I really need to boot into Windows, grab the drive key and insert it into a fresh iXtreme.bin..? I don't mind knowing why, but a simple yes/no answer will suffice.
