@VerbatimDL24X  Boke's patch is about plugging a mtklash compatible ide drives. Before boke's edited mtkflash,we needed to have a mtkflash compatible ide drive and it's not needed anymore. However, there are some problem with even 6421 sata cards and it might be an option to have or not.

@apokalypse2k3 Could you try a clean install of Xp and setup the drivers of sata card correctly? after that try plugging or unplugging an ide dvd drive into the secondary master.I believe these kind of problems are pc related.I haven't seen any incompatible 6421 cards for ms25&28.Follow the tutorial word by word and let's see what happens. If you can,try in another computer to see what's happening.

@dulath Yes plug the card and setup the drivers correctly. It's needed.

@gli7ch I believe it's fw related.Try downgrading to 4.2 .Most people solved their problems by up&downgrading their firmwares.

@scorpionking77 If the card is not setup correctly there are two optinos: either the card is causing some trouble or you need another computer.Try another computer and let's see if it's 6421 related or not.

@mc gusto could you give the correct model and version of the card -if possible- with a link?

@ryrules1 Is it raid one or just simple $10 card? If it's a raid one you should disable raid

@conners Did you try ENABLE0800 disc? That's what i can think of.

I was away for 2 days that is why i delayed for answers.

i bet everyone who can't flash with a ms28 and has a via chipset isn't doing the 10 sec trick correctly

you have to turn on the 360 so its detected at dos
then you have to turn it off and from the second you press enter at the mtkflash read or write you need to start the 10 second countdown, if 10 seconds dosen't work then try 13
then turn the xbox back on and it will read and dump the orig.bin or you can flash if you need to

just wondering, how do u tell the difference between the ms25 and ms28 drives? i dont want to open up the xbox just yet, waiting for my sata card. is there really a difference or somthing different or easier i can do if it was ms25 or ms28? i have one more question, i have a asus p4p8003 deluxe mobo which has 4 sata ports. my raid is diabled in the bios and i open up xtrme boot maker and i have this wierd list of controllers in the the custom box. none of my sata controllers are listed except for a scsi controller and these random pci ide controller options. and the scsi controller is not compatable. how can i see of my sata ports are comptatible? i have the intel ich5R chipset. can i make this work or i need the via card? thanks in advance.

the only way to tell is to take the xbox apart and look on the sticker on top of the dvd drive with barcode on it.

and yes the ONLY way to flash the ms28 drive WITHOUT soldering/desoldering is to have the via chipset sata card (6421) otherwise you must do the vcc trick (removal of resistor install of switch) if you do this method I can help you with the steps once you do the soldering.   If not wait for your sata card..and perform the 10 second trick.

Ok so i decided to update my ms25 to 5.2  so i can play some xbox 1 games on it.  So i flashed it back to orig.bin  I used xtremebootmaker to make a new floppy with 5.2 fw.  booted  and flashed it.  but im getting error 66 now.   Anyone help me out i know this is a common error and probably talked to death. this worked fine with 4.2  but 5.2 just doesnt like me   and yes i am updated with latest live patch.

i think this error means you flashed the drive with the wrong drive version, for example MS25 flashed to ms28, you need to make sure when you flash it, its flashed with ms25 compatability smile.gif  sleep.gif  hope this helps mate.

just a small note for more info, after version 4? of xtreme, by default they used ms28 FW, with new xtreme

use the bat file with xtreme 5.2 and make sure you select ms25! (report as ms25 / option B ) this should make it work perfect, hope i helped you.

you need the xtreme boot maker to detect your sata address otherwise, it simply wont work
