if this works on older computers i have a Dell Dimension 8100 made roughly in 2001. There are no sata ports so i know i need to buy the via 6421 pci sata card but im just worried since comp is older might not be compatiable with this chipset any ideas Intel i850 Rev. AZ not sure if this can help anyone i know there are spots to put the pci sata card just not sure how this will work and if so what is a link to the card i need exactly so i dont go and get one that isnt going to work.
I think it doesn't matter as far as you have an empty pci slot and running XP.
I bought via 6421 sata card off of Ebay.com and here is the link to the supplier. It's only $18 including shipping.
Via Sata 6421QUOTE
Ok, so no matter what chipset I have, I need the VIA6421 card if I have a ms28? To do the samread? Anyone able to do this without the 6421, and a compatible on-board sata with an samsung ms28?
Yes you have to buy this one to flash ms28.You don't need samread if you want to follow this tutorial.Nobody did that without 6421 via software(you need to desolder&solder the dvd drive if you want to try with different chipsets which has no guaranty to work)

I just bought a 6421 card and I have ms28 fireware, Is there anything else i need to do besides follow the tut?? Does a certain slot work better I heard people talking about the one furthest from the PC, is this true? I Also heard people taking about needing a pre-hex-editied MTKflash, is this true?
You need nothing else apart from this tutorial+6421 .Hex editing is handled by xtreme boot maker .036
