Step By Step Tutorial On How To Flash Ms25&ms28
« Reply #120 on: January 16, 2007, 06:54:00 PM »

I am getting ready to buy a PCI Sata Card and use this tutorial to flash my m28 and I am wondering if this card will work http://www.newegg.co...N82E16816132009. I assume it will as it has a VIA 6421 chipset but I would like to make sure before I buy it. Also for the people that have used this tutorial can you tell me what PCI card you used to flash your drive? Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

It's a raid card.Better if you buy a non-raid ,it makes it easier.

Ok thanks, I heard that this one will do the job just fine http://www.newegg.co...N82E16815124022, it has a VIA VT6421L chipset and is non-RAID. I think I'll buy it tonight if you guys approve of it!

You can buy it.You're good to go.

BTW THOSE WHO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH VIA 6421 CARDS ,CHANGE YOUR PCI SLOTS AND GET ANOTHER SATA CABLE.IF POSSIBLE TAKE YOUR SOUND CARDS ,INTERNAL MODEMS , TV CARDS OFF TO AVOID THE CONFLICT.THAT WILL BE THE ANSWER FOR MOST PEOPLE.

I just got another one from newegg today. It seams that after the 3 week back order and almost double the price price hike, I got a VT6421A chipset on it.

I have not tried it out yet, maybe tonight when i get home. has anyone else tried the VT6421A yet? (I am sure this has been asked 1000 times, I have not had time to research this yet, I am at work) I saw a guy on newwgg said it worked, I rather have that confirmed here.

this tut worked great except for one part where you missed the step about using the 10 second trick when dumping the original bin file.

you should really update it to add that. that cost me a couple hours research. wink.gif

To Flash a ms28 is almost same. The only difference is to turn off 360 before choosing your sata card (right after mtkflash command) and wait for 10 sec(which is known as 10 sec trick ,turn it on. Timing is important and you may try for a couple of times for right timing. You need a via 6421 sata card for ms28.

Already mentioned in the first post  wink.gif

One note, you need to use the 10 second trick with the MS28 everytime you want to detect it, including when you read the original firmware (to get the key). I don't think that was mentioned for that portion.

glad You mentioned that, I was stuck untill i saw your post,

I'm not sure if your sata controller is compatible.Better to check it first or order a via6421 sata card.

Well you can search that in the forum, find the sata controller and see if another compatible mainboard is using it or you can try to flash to see it.I haven't used such a board and i don't know if it works or not.
