Okey, will try with a pioneer 111d when i recive it, it has been ordered. Will that solve the open tray error? Will also try with a plexwriter later today..
well there really is no way for us to tell you for certain if it will fix your issue because the OPEN TRAY "error" is not really an error.
The open tray error is really just the drive not reading the disk for whatever the reason may be. Which is why it is hard to say because there are alot of reasons why this could happen. And for us to help you there is no specific thing people can point to except to point to all the issues that could cause it to happen which again is basically everything or anything.
Such as:
1. Burner - this can be one problem... the RECOMMENDED way is pioneer 111d .. yes you will see others saying other drives work.. but to MAKE SURE this is not the problem it is best to use the recommened burner...people will say this "could" be your problem otherwise.
2. Media - again recommended is verbatim any other media people will point to as MAYBE being the problem.
maybe there are scratches etc etc.. is it possible that CRAPPY BURNS OR MEDIA can cause damage to the dvd drive reading it? possibly if you ask me.. it all depends on what has happened so far etc etc..
3. Burn speed - RECOMMENDED is slowest (this now adays is 2.4x) yes there are those that burn at 8x with no problems... SOME will even say 8x is better (I personally do not see how as the burn is not as "deep" as slowest speed) but again depending on the BURNER and PC and 360 drive combo this may work perfectly fine. But to MAKE SURE it is not the problem burn at slowest speed for now.
4. Burning program - Recommended is Clonecd - again this is just the recommended app to use.
5. 360 dvd drive itself - this could be hardware related... or maybe at some point it BECAME hardware related for whatever reason maybe the tray or laser became misaligned? who knows? this is why the rubber band trick has happened. Some drives over extend reading the disk... is this firmware related? no one has proven this yet.
6. Finally the firmware - you will again get mixed signals on this one... some will say it can not happen, the firmware does not cause this...... yet there are those that have used 4.2 with no open tray issues then go to 5.0 and got tray issues... then go back to 4.2 and have no problems.
Is it possible for the firmware to be the issue? well yes it could be...especially when there are 2 types of firmares to flash A or B which are SPEED related... so if you flash with 5.0 A maybe try 5.0 B same thing for 4.2 for that matter.
And then there is the combo of multiple issues of items 1-6 this is why it is difficult for anyone to specifically tell you what your problem is. You are going to have to try everything and try the RECOMMENDED ways first just to get to where you can prove things are NOT the problem. (or shouldn't be)
