To All Who Have Via Vt8237 Chipset
« on: December 24, 2006, 02:02:00 AM »

ok this problem has been driving me nuts but i finally figured out why my chipset was doing this and thought others could try what worked for me.

i noticed that the viamraid.sys driver wasn't loading when i checked my windows logs.
so i went into my via driver folder that i downloaded and had installed and found the XP driver
folder (VIA_RAID_V530C\VIAStor\driver\Raid\winxp) and copied ALL 3 files (viamraid.cat, VIAMRAID.INF, and viamraid.sys) to
C:\WINDOWS\system32 . after doing this i rebooted my pc with hitachi still attached.
same problem that damn code 10.

so for the 1000th time i disabled the VIA SATA RAID controller
in device manager waited a few seconds and then enabled it again. done this many times with no luck but.....
it worked this time. checked the logs and no error of the viamraid.sys driver not loding anymore.
now it does seem after 2 reboots that i will have to do this everytime but the drive is detected
with no code 10 and every x360 app find the drive fine now. dont know if anyone else has found this fix for the problem yet , if so sorry for the bouble post , if not then maybe this will help those having this problem.

for some reason i cannot edit my post...

UPDATE_

it seems now when i reboot Hitachi is there and all is fine. no need to disable and re-able controller.
maybe this "fix" will work for other via chipsets that are giving people headaches.

OK I got it. After much more searching/reading some people had similar issue with slax method. They mentioned uninstall sata driver from device mgr and then reboot and while windows was loading reconnect power to the drive with it in mode b and that worked great. My drive showed up in windows!!! biggrin.gif

Hi! I am having problems with flashing my Hitachi 78k drive in it. I am having a lot of problems. I downloaded and burned the SLAX program, and grounded the XBOX to the computer, started both at the same time. When booting, I don't see a clover? It could be because my monitor doesn't engage fast enough, but I am not sure if that is right? The program runs all the way through, but at the end of it I don't see "Starting to spin disc" but instaed I see a login screen where I type "root" and "toor" and get an option to restart or do other advanced options? Any suggestions? Also, when I reboot with the drive plugged in to the card, device manager shows an exclamation point and says the card cannot start (code 10). I have been trying to do some reading but can't really see what else to do? Is there a chance I messed up when burning the slax program?

I am getting the code 10 error as well but I can't get the drive into mode b, do you have any suggestions?
