Xtreme firmware 5.0A and 5.0B for TS-H943
« Reply #45 on: December 18, 2006, 08:33:00 AM »

Sorry for the question but i'm trying to learn a bit more about this...

I got a X360 NTSC_USA Samsung pre-flashed with Xtreme4.2 a month ago.

- All the NTSC or FreeRegion ISOs i burned on VerbatimDL media worked nice until today.
- I don't have/play XBOX (old one) games (original/ISO)

Is there anything interesting in this new version to me?

- No SL media / Ripper for X360 ISOs;
- No RegionFree ISOs;

Am i wrong?

Please, i'm not saying this upgrade is useless because i'm just learning what happens in the FW Flash world but i couldn't understand what can i get if i flash from 4.2 to 5.0.

Thank you for the help.

Magnificent stuff, c4e.

Now that backed up Xbox 1 games' data files can be altered and burned back on cheap DVD+R's, who'll be the one to come up with a exploit that will enable homebrew under Xbox 1 emulation?

Cause you know there's gotta be a security flaw somewhere.

Hi everyone,
I'm just about to flash my 360 for the first time, can anyone please tell me the advantages/disadvantages of using either versions 'a' or 'b'? What version would you recommend?

Thank you in advance,

Chris

It's in the readme.

mr commodore4eva i have two question for you....

1. have you cracked the hd file format yet so we can get bigger hds on the x360?
2. do you know if there is a REAL modchip for the x360 on the way soon?

hopefully you can reply to these questions here....

Guy, C4E's work is on the DVD rom drive, it has nothing to do with the security on the console itself.

Now, does this also work with previously created Xbox360 backups on DL DVD's?

Obviously, since there are at least several games greater than 4.7GB.

Anyone have any insight into how he remove the need for security sectors on original XBox games?

I just updated my samsung ms25 drive to xtrem50a, burned shenmue 2 iso to a single layer dvd-r and it worked imediatly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  (no security sectors)

This is just so good.

Just flashed and tested with a fresh made backup of Scarface (thanks December compatability update!) on a DVD+R Verbatim and it's working great!  Now to test out with some cheap DVD media!

I did not read this entire post so this may already have been answered.

What all games are small enough to fit on a single disk? Can you remove som files from the image to make it fit on a single layer disk, or is that protected against? I read that you cannot modify .xbx or the signature will change, but could you just remove a few videos or something?

Thanks C4E

but only if they are built with gdfimage ... xbe's that are patched/modifed will also not boot, due to the signature being broke.

Check on the 1st account, I used GDFImage for all my ISO's... As for the second, this means that any game that required the media patch will not work on the 360. I would have to dump those games again and not touch the xbe's...

It's better than nothing though! I would bet 2/3 of the games on the compat list never required a patch on the the Xbox1, so the existing backup should work...  biggrin.gif

The one thing that worries me though, is that before (a few months ago) this mod was a bit more difficult, and was far more limited in scope. With all these youtube tutorials, little all-in-one tools coming out, and now this extensive support for even more games, not to mention the ability to cheat by modifying data files, I am guessing MS$ is going to have to respond now  unsure.gif

Lets start a campaign to donate money to Commodore4eva !
After all, ability to flash DVD-ROM without FW is useless, both deserve our thanks.

This new FW v5 is going to save lot of money for all of us so lets share some with the great developper!

Commodore4Eva please let us know your PAYPAL email address

Cheers

PS: GaryOpa you will be the next :-)
