Am I reading this correctly? Did he get rid of the SS requirement for Xbox1 games? If so... (and I don't want to go down the speculation road but someone needs to at least bring it up)... would this not make the backup more easiliy detectable by MSFT?

I understand this new FW v5 for Samsnug DVD-ROM works with:

1. Original Xbox 360 DVD's
2. Xbox 360 games backed up on Single Layer DVD's

Now, does this also work with previously created Xbox360 backups on DL DVD's?

samsungs dont need to go back to original like the hitachis do. you can just put the 0800 disc in to unlock the firmguard, then flash with 5.0a or 5.0b right over your current 4.2. make sure your key is inserted into 5.0 first!!!!

I thought the 0800 was purely to stop the 360 writing to it and didn't apply when connected to the PC. I'm now guessing my assumption is incorrect :-(

Presumably I need to burn the Enable0800 image to a Dual Layer disk when moving from 4.* to 5? (even if I wanted to flash back to original first)

Just a quick question regarding the existing dual layer 360 backups Was this removed making it single layer only or was single layer support added for existing xbox games, assuming the emulator supports it. This is the one thing that is throwing me from this release and if someone could clarify, that'd be great. Thanks in advance!

It will of course still support DL backups.

This is some awesome news! I'll be testing this out with my personal 360 and posting some results! I've used Qwix to backup most of my XBox1 titles so it looks like time to pull them all outta storage and re-back them up properly. I knew I shouldn't have used Qwix all this time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Congrats Commadore, GaryOpa, and Maximus!

it says: youve selected a unknown firmware, would you like to d/l new definition? i selected yes, now it says unable to find a matching firmware definition PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!

Just because Xtreme Boot Maker doesn't recognize the FW doesn't mean it won't work.

I'm just about to flash my 360 for the first time, can anyone please tell me the advantages/disadvantages of using either versions 'a' or 'b'? What version would you recommend?
