using slax boot disc to set mode B

First to get on the board and say I bricked my 0078 ( a dubious honour though!!!) Bloody electricity cut halfway through the flash. Powergen!!!!
However as I had safely dumped the key got my old sammy ms25 drive in and working no problem.

But you dont actually need it do you? At least i think you dont?

This tool patches the firmware all by itself and note PATCH - hence its not illegal to own the program.

Posting to report success.

This was my first firmware hack and everything went without a hitch. Followed Textbook's mini-tutorial in this thread to the letter and had no problems at all.

Yeah I read that after I posted. I was under the impression the author of slax stated that if your chipset wasn't compatible with slax1 it isn't with 2 either. well must have misread. Better for me since I have a via card too.

hello im having problems get drive into mode b seen in widows when i press dump raw firware it says insert a game or dvd and wait 20 secs i do that then it says save as press ok then the program locks up
can anybody help plz

Does SOMEONE know why I`m getting this message when I want to dump the original from a 78:

``Cannot Read The Drive``

I can flash a 47 with the SIL3112 chip set but know it JUST DON`t WORK!!! I also tried a 6421.
NOTE:

HITACHI IS IN MODE-B CAUSE I CAN SEE IT IN WINDOWS WITH DRIVE LETTER: E

So you can use this toolset to flash both the Samsung and Hitachi drives or did I misread the readme?
And if so, then no more flashing in DOS.
