after getting my 78 into mode b and starting the flashing tool, my pc locks up everytime i try to dump per textbooks instructions.

i've tried it on 3 different pc's and all lock up when trying to dump original firmware.  

i get into mode b, start software, it says to insert game or movie, i insert an original 360 game, wait 15-20 seconds and press start, system locks everytime.

Help please.

Are you using some kind of sata to USB converter? Because if you are thats what happens. It does not work with X360 USB or with any SATA to USB converter from what I understand. I had the same ssue with my X360 USB. I just bought a VIA 6421L PCI card and it worked great.

If I want to flash an older drive then 0078 with this tool, lets say a 0046, how do I use this tool on it? Can I use it to dump the original firmware, copy the key from that original, than open 46_16S.BIN from the FWPACK, paste this new key to it, and then reflash it like on a 0078? Is that a correct conclusion? And if so, should I then still use the internal flasher, or choose another flasher from the availeble list? (I believe you can also choose 46FLASH as a flashing protocol)

You got it all correct.

Two notes:

1: If you using the internal flasher, you need a original game in the drive to be able to complete the flashing.

2: On some window setups it will crash with an error if selecting 46FLASH, in those cases just use "internal".

Quick question regarding the spoofing. (This may have already been answered but the search wasnt working and i didnt feel like reading 39 pages of this thread :-p) But does the firmware already packaged with this toolbox automatically spoof the drive as unmodded? And is the ability to spoof your drive to whatever you want kindof just an additional feature for fun? Thanks! and wow what an amazing prog, defnintely not gonna buy team-xecuters modchip because of this because i hate soldering (so the money is going to you maximus!)

Okay I read through about the first 20 of these pages and I got sick of reading.  I couldn't find the answer so I will just ask.  YOu can yell if it has already been answered in this thread.  If it has I'm sorry, but does this tool work on ALL hitachi's or just the 78 version?

It's based on the 1.6 (non-spoofing) version.  This is how you can do a differential patch back to retail.  If it was stealth, you'd try to do a patch to retail and the toolbox would read the drive and think it's already been done!

All I can say is that this program is amazing!! Thank you very much Maximus! It was the easiest flash I have ever done. At first when I got my xbox about a week ago I knew it had the 78 without even opening it so I started reading the posts and I finally opened it up today and yep 78 alright so I put it into modeb and followed the instructions and bam 100% now the amazing thing is that all my backups that would not boot with my 47DJ
all work without any problems all boot right up amazing. Now I love my 78 so again thanks Maximus

Very Strange

I built a cheap PC with Via chipset on board to Flash 360's
Everything went well untill the 78.

Flashed 2 x 78's used slax2.1 and worked great

Just tried to flash a 78FK cant get it into modeb cant recognise in windows

Heres the strange part
I built a cheap pc because my system with Asus A8R mobo and ULI chipset would not work with m25,m28, or hitachis

hooked up the 70fk and windows recognises it however it is not supported by slax2.1 so I was unable to flash it

I have tried everything, spent over 6 hours but no good.

I did the flash to my 78 and work ok, the problem that I have now it is that backups that work on my friends moded x360 samsung don´t work on mine. All the original I have work perfect with no problem.
is there a problem with the brand of dvds that i must buy

I have an ali m5289 sata chipset and it keeps freezing when trying to raw dump the firmware on my 0078fk.
Can anyone help.

Is this chipset compatible with 0078fk drives ?, If not would a Via 6421 pci card work

Is it possible to import my key database from 2.0 into the 3.0? I first tried just copy paste of the temp.txt doc but it just creates a blank file when I run the 3.0 software. Then I discovered it must be in the tagdata.dat file but now a fc.dat file is used. So is there a way to retain my old database and keep my new stuff together in the 3.0 without having to rescan all the previous firmwares?



**figured it out**

the tagdata.dat file isn't even created until a key is added to database. Just needed to copy the old tagdata.dat file over to new folder. I tested and added new keys and they updated/appended to the old data fine. Not sure what the fc.dat file contains or if it will need to be migrated in future versions.
