Does SOMEONE know why I`m getting this message when I want to dump the original from a 78:

``Cannot Read The Drive``

I can flash a 47 with the SIL3112 chip set but know it JUST DON`t WORK!!! I also tried a 6421.
NOTE:

HITACHI IS IN MODE-B CAUSE I CAN SEE IT IN WINDOWS WITH DRIVE LETTER: E

HEEEEEEEELP biggrin.gif

There was corruption from firmware reads using SIL SATA chipsets.  They are not supported at this time.  Use a different SATA controller if possible, or wait until they can figure out the issue.

So you can use this toolset to flash both the Samsung and Hitachi drives or did I misread the readme?
And if so, then no more flashing in DOS.

Hitachi flashing only.  Samsung is still flashed in DOS.

for now SIL3112 wont work. you have to use some other hitachi compatible chipset.

As a total noob when it comes to Xbox360 and flashing DVD drives i followed "Textbook's" howto.

Turned on the xbox360 (dont have a connectivity kit yet)
Booted my pc (with Asus P4C-800E) with Slax 2.0
Reset my pc and booted to windows.

A couple times the Xbox just shut down because it failed to boot too many times or something, hence cutting the power. I timed it with a stopwatch and it was about 5 minutes before it shuts down.

Then I set everything right again, keeping track of time.

Finally i managed to do everything Textbook wrote down and voila .... I now have a patched 0078 Hitachi drive in my Xbox biggrin.gif

I'm about to test one of my backups to see if it really works but so far i havent seen any problems. The drive works just fine with originals and movie dvds so i dont see why it wouldnt work with a backup smile.gif

THANKS MAXIMUS !! BE SURE TO FIND A DONATION SOON biggrin.gif

First time opening my 360 today, (Premium Gears Of War Limited Edition pack from PLAY.COM, had August '06 Hitatchi 78 in it)

- opened it
- connected drive via SATA to my DFI Expert NF4 Controller
- booted Slax2 alpha to set ModeB
- Reset PC
- Read firmware with Toolbox
- Patched and wrote firmware with toolbox
- All back together and it plays originals (don't have a backup to test yet, working on how to backup GoW)

Just if that helps anyone ill answer any questions (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

- Maximus Xtreme v1.6 Firmware for Hitachi-LG v0078 (FW package we currently recommend for this drive v78 - use Maximus 360 Firmware Toolbox v3.0 to flash)

Note the bold, there is a FW made specifically for the 78 drive.

QUOTE(adamscybot @ Dec 17 2006, 07:37 PM) *

But you dont actually need it do you? At least i think you dont?

This tool patches the firmware all by itself and note PATCH - hence its not illegal to own the program.

I was also wondering about this. Its not made very clear in the tuts whether we actually need the 1.6 firmware.
