Ms28 Not Working Or Ejecting
« on: December 05, 2006, 02:47:00 PM »

aiight my buddy has a MS28 drive and he had it flashed and it wasworking. Somethin happened along the way (not sure what and neither does he know) but the thing will not eject or work right at all..the power led keeps blinking and i cant reflash it in mtkflash. tried doin the hotswap method with my working one but cant seem to get it to flash...also i noticed that on my MS28 when i power it on the laser moves and shit...on his it does not. could that be caused from a bad flash or is it something mechanically wrong with the pcb? hope someone can answer the question. spent hours and hours tryin different methods...TIA!

can u be more specific? its plugged in all the way....

ok heres more of a frekin problem. i have the same drive and upgraded to the newest firmware. now when i try to use mtkflash the shit doesnt even read MY drive now. so i burned a 0800 w/ nero to a DL disc and tried puttin it in for 10 seconds then runnin mtkflash and still no luck. this is really starting to piss me off!!!!! basically, how the fuck am i supposed to hotswap if i cant get it to recognize MY own drive now???? what am i doing wrong? theres like 30 different ways to flash this shit and none are working. i dont wanna be messin with the vcc crap either, this is how he screwed up his first pcb.....and why all of a sudden do we have to do the vcc shit if we didnt have to do it in the first place?

ok first off, i fucked up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) . The models are NOT ms28, they are ms25's. i found out what MY problem was about it not reading the firmware again and thats cause i had to run the stupid 0800 disc to get it into programming mode or whatever. as far as the other ms25 board goes i still dont know what the problem is. As soon as i turn on that board the xbox power LED flashed green (as if its being flashed) and will NOT eject nor will the laser move or light up (my laser moves and lights up when i turn mine on). i tried hotswapping after i got mine to finally read and this is what i did...after i booted my drive to the 0800 dvd, run "mtkflash w /SATA orig.bin" (this command is the one i used and it worked for my drive), waited for it to ask what port, then i switched the SATA cable real fast and hit 1. yea well it just stays at that screen and wont flash.. (same as mine was doin b4 i ran the 0800 dvd).....any suggestions? u think its a BAD pcb board or just a bad flash?

the owner of the pcb was sayin he was tweakin the pots on the laser in the first place cause it was having read issues with the games and then randomly one day it wouldnt even eject and now its just being gay.....u think he fried it somehow or its just a bad flash? is that symptoms of a bad flash? the drive not ejecting and the led just keep blinking on the xbox?

o yea i have an intel controller and it works with the TS's...i realized the main problem with MY drive was that i put the newest firmware on it and it put the flashprotect..thats new to me. so its not an issue with my controller. now im back to square one trying to hotswap/recover this drive.....

I had same exxact problem, Drive does nothing...i can still flash it...read it...etc...but wont eject or anything...and the consoles flashes like its in mode b. What the problem ended up being is the MCU in the drive (the larger chip) I Got MODFREAKz to fix mine.

I got a M$25 drive and i flashed xtreme4.2_update in it, Sometimes when im trying to boot my Enable0800 disc when i press eject it wont eject, So i turn off the 360 and turn it back on by pressing the eject botton that usually works and windows recognize the drive.
Once windows recognize the drive i wait 20 seconds and take the Enable0800 disc out, load your game that you want to make a backup and start XBC (xbox backup creator)
That should fix the problem

i dunno man, the thing doesnt spin at all, laser doesnt move at all either....i think tried turnin it on by eject but it still dont spin at all.....

ok ive come to the conclusion that his pcb is just fux0rd. i put his pcb in my tray and the lazer did light this time but the motor did not move. and the 2 trays he had i tried my board in and niether of them spun with my pcb....so both his trays and the pcb he had is fux0rd i think. time for him to get a new drive i guess....
