Hitachi 46dh Help. Refuses To Go Into Mode B
« on: December 05, 2006, 04:32:00 AM »

Using the SLAX CD at no part does it mention that it's being put into modeb. Sometimes I get a status 0x80 error, sometimes a lazy port.

After a soft reboot windows either freezes during loading or once booted up. Sometimes it doesn't freeze but I get a yellow exclamation on my SATA controller (Code 10). This happens with either my motherboard's built in VIA VT8237 or external PCI VIA VT6421a. The drive obviously won't show up.

Using the connectivity kit doesn't seem to work either. The light on the kit goes red as expected but I still get the same as above.

I have flashed a Samsung MS28 with the VT6421a several times before.

I'm all out of ideas :/

The drive was manufactured in September 2005.

You need a SIL3112 card to flash a Hitachi with Slax. Here's an ebay link to one of the ones I know work.

If that's true then I think I'll just smash it up, claim it under the accidental damage warranty I have and ask to see it 'working' first so I can check it's got a Samsung in it.

I have the Xecutor USB360 and it works no problem with this drive.

You do realise that you need to power off the drive on each change?

If you boot up with modeb on it will be fine.

Try supplying power to the connectiity kit during the windows loading screen (the one with the bar going across the bottom).
