Flashing Problem?
« on: December 05, 2006, 03:51:00 AM »

Not sure what the problem is. Well, we were trying to get our 360 flashed by a friend who does 360 flash jobs. I'm not really sure what he used to flash (I believe he used birdy's friendly flash utility 2.2, our dvd drive is a hitachi), but he didn't continue flashing it (he just backed up the firmware) because he said that a message popped up saying that the drive was already flashed, and options came up asking if you wanted to do a reflash. Now, Im not sure why it would say that since we've never even opened the 360 before this. Do live updates make any changes to the original firmware, coz we've pretty downloaded all the updates to the 360 already?

If you never opened the 360 before and bought it new, then he lied to you.
I would bet that you had a 0078 hitachi drive and he doesn't know how to program them.
If you have any other hitachi version all he has to do is run restore.bat and then flash23s.bat with OPA 2.3
Even if you've never flashed the 360, the restore option (restore.bat) either returns the drive to original or does nothing at all to it( because it's already original )
Just tell him to get OPA 2.3 Stealth Rev2 and use that firmware as Birdys flasher isn't worth the bricking it can do to certain drives.
