There isn't an easy way.  You'd have to take the firmware chip off the 78 and read the key with a programmer.  Then insert like normal.  Your advertising 360 flashes and you don't know this?

If you have your v78 key you should inject your key into Xtreme 4.2_Update as this will make your 46 drive look like a v78 drive if you update your 360.

@Microshack what is your real question ? You're a modder and you must know how to insert the key right?
Why don't you use your 78 as you desoldered and got the key from it.You don't need 46

Xtreme 4.2 is for Samsung drives, not Hitachi.  I also agree with the above.  If you got your key from the v78 why not just use the v78?

It seems fairly logical to me...The 78 drive will be damaged but managed to read the original firmware off, so he needs to inject the key into a 46 drive but also change the firmware on the 46 to tell the 360 its a 78 drive so as not to get E66.

So how is this done?

Thank you Chipextreme... At least somebody can read...

Yes the v78 is screwed. Ive got the firmware dump and Key.

Since Ive posted this I have solved it really.I thought i was doing it wrong but it worked....

Thanks to Cheekymonkey telling me I was doing it right all along....

Heres how to do it with a progger...

1. Remove your 78 chip
2. Read firmware and dump to 78.bin
3. Grab key using firmware toolbox
4. Open your 46 firmware (was.bin)(unencrypted) in toolbox and replace key with v78 key and press replace but dont encrypt
5. open your was.bin in hexedit and change the six parts needed  (will go into this later)
6. Save file a 46-u.bin
7. Grab "firm" and encrypt the file... for example   c:\firm e 46-u.bin 46enc.bin
8. Program the chip with 46enc.bin and resolder etc
9. Enjoy!

Once you have played around with the bin files after you have made it look like a v78 it will NOT open in Firmware Toolbox at all....

There is a tut on here somewhere which tells you which bytes to chane in the firmware to make it look like whatever drive you wish.
