ok heres where im at

created a boot disk (floppy) and added mtkflash and mtkflash.typ

plugged 360 drive into sata 1 socket on motherboard while leaving the power connecter on the 360

went into bios and disabled all raid and ide channels

booted with floppy

powered up 360

typed in the mtk command at prompt

then it says

"please wait detecting drives"
"no drives found"

i know i should turn the 360 off when it says please wait which i do but it does not "freeze" the system like people say it should and goes straight to " no drives found"


i have tried it loads of times and i know i mustof turned it off in the right place but it justwont crash the system for me.

well one thing is your drive is a ms28 which REQUIRES a VIA chipset (via sata card) ...
since you are using your motherboard sata controller I am going to assume you do not have a via chipset ...what is your chipset?   ICH , Nforce, Sil?

if you want to use ICH, Nforce or any other chipset other than via you MUST do the vcc method (resistor removal soldering required)  

if you do not want to do the soldering you must use via chipset and the 10 second method or bad flash method.

Also more than likely you have the ich or nforce chipset.. in which case you HAVE to start the xbox first then the pc.. otherwise the bios will simply not see the drive and will give such an error as you are getting.

the bad flash method for ms28 requires:

1. Via Sata chipset
2. Another mediatek based dvd drive on any other channel but preferably on an ide so there's no confusion.
3. use of the /sata switch for mtkflash

With latest xtreme bootmaker with both options checked, you do not need another drive connected, works just fine with just the 360 drive connected, I did one the other day, I would recommend you use xtreme bootmaker first if that don't work just pick up a via sata pci card, I had a 6421A and have 100% success with it so far.
