Ms28 + Vt6421 = No Drive Detected
« on: December 02, 2006, 08:04:00 AM »

I've got the via drivers installed in windows.  Xtreme Boot Maker correctly detected my card.  I then put the latest version of X360SAM on my USB drive and my hex edited version of mtkflash.  With the computer shut off, I removed the sata cable from the 360 and turned on the PC.  All onboard IDE/SATA has been disabled and the PC boots to the command prompt.  At that point, I plug in the sata cable and power on the 360.  When mtkflash runs through X360SAMA, I get a "No drives detected message".  However, when I plug in my IDE DVD burner, I am presented with two options.
1) Via 8xxx Sec Master (forgot the rest of the numbers, but it starts with an 8)
2)  VT6241 Sec Master

Regardless of my choice I get a Port/b0 thing that never changes.  Any ideas on how to get it working?

EDIT - I forgot to mention that when I use Xtreme boot maker's hex edited mtkflash, I get no drives detected regardless even if I have my DVD burner connected to the ide.  This is what my MSINFO32 shows.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16815124023 <--- My Card.  NOTE:  This is the SY-VIA-150R not the SY-VIA-150.  I doubt it makes any difference, but is there something I need to do to turn off RAID (if it is on by default)?

I haven't flashed ms28 since mine is ms25 but i know that timing is of great importance.Bedore choosing any of these options turn the drive off press via sata master whatever then wait for 10 sec and turn 360 on.

I'm using the latest Xtreme boot maker with the ms28 check boxes on in a different PC right now.  I get the same results, "No drives detected".  I turn on the 360 once I'm in DOS and I've tried on both sata connectors.  With Boke's patch, I don' think I need to have an IDE drive connected.

I've read up on the 10 second method, but I don't get to that point in the modding process.  Should I hex edit the mtkflash that xtreme boot maker gives me?  Its almost the same as when I do it manually, but slightly different for the last few values.

I can't edit my last post, but here is another update

I tried another PCI slot and still haven't had any luck.  There was one change though.  I connected my DVD burner to the IDE port on the card.  When I ran samreada, mtkflash came up with "Xtreme Sec Master".  Perhaps it is seeing the USB drive formatted by xtreme boot maker?  Regardless of which port my 360 used, I still got the port/a0 or something along those lines.  Without the burner connected, I end up with No drives detected.

My old PC that I formatted xtreme boot maker on has been having some problems, so I moved to a new PC (no OS installed).  Will I have to reformat with xtreme boot maker to get it to work?  I'm concerned about the hex edits that it would make (I/O ports).

For your case, you need to connect an IDE drive to the card. Yes, you will have to create a custom MTKFlash for your new PC. Install your OS first and run boot maker once again. It will work ...

When you have the 150r the best thing to do is just take the sata cable from your 360 and just attach it to the other sata port. It does not have to be plugged into anything else but that is how I was able to get a ms25 and ms28 detected. So you have your dvd drive connected to the sata port closest to the front of the computer. Then take the sata cable from the xbox and connect it to the port closest to the back of the computer. Only way I could get the drive detected - no other method worked.
