You are one of those unluncky ones that has a MS25 drive that failed with xtreme 4.2b due to the E66 error. You can either switch back to xtreme 3.3 or run 4.2b but modified the drive model to reflect as MS25 (xtreme 4.X is based on MS28 firmware and thus will return your drive as MS28).

To be able to reflash your firmware now, you have two options. Either "unlock" it using the enable0800 disc or 'Badflash method' using VIA SATA chipset.

Is enable0800 disk must be burnt on Dual layer? burning on regular wont help?
Nero detekting this iso as CD-Rom..

This had been mentioned quite often. Burnt it on dual layer disc and use CloneCD. Thou some had done it using ImgBurn & Nero, others claimed failure using these 2 burning softwares.

As for how to use the enable0800 disc, it is stated in the README text that comes with the firmware ...

you can find the updated package for fixing your 4.2 to work in the "usuall places"

you basically need to change or hex edit the 4.2 firmware to report back as ms25... the UPDATE package has batch files that can do this for you.

and like Benny has stated earlier...

you have 2 options to flash...
use enable 0800 to unlock drive to be able to flash
or via sata card and do bad flash method with that.

O joy! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I did it! Just burned a 0800 dvd on DL Verbatim DVD, and Mtkflash detekded the dvd, then i repatched whit xtreme42a (maual code injection and dvd firmware manualy changet to ms25) and it workes.
The dvd is noisy now, because of the speed hack, im only afraid that it will kill it overtime, but probably not (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
