Xtreme 5.x Soon?
« on: December 02, 2006, 06:06:00 AM »

Ive been waiting for a single layer firmware since ive had my 360

a few weeks ago i noticed the 5.x firmware was comeing out soon

so decided it was time to flash the firmware soon (didnt want to bother before single layer was supported)

anway last night i decided to do it

stripped the 360 apart

then went looking for 5.x

oops its not out yet

my bad

i flashed 4.2 anyway

is it worth keeping the xbox apart for when 5.x comes out?

Its supposed to be out this weekend, but from what I've read it may not have the single layer support yet.

From what Ive seen, the only difference between 4.2 and 5.x , was that 5.x has the single layer disc support...
If you staight that its coming out, but not with single layer support.....
What would be the difference between the two versions, if thats the case?

QUOTE
Commodore4Eva said Xtreme firmware version 5 will be released this weekend, even though Xbox 360 file-iso support is still not complete. At least we will be able to use it for Xbox 1 on single layer media.

(10:21:49 PM) c4eva [[email protected]] entered the room.
(10:22:25 PM) c4eva: hello
(10:22:45 PM) NCspecV81: come here to tell us you are relasing v5?
(10:23:02 PM) c4eva: soon
(10:23:18 PM) NCspecV81: hey you think its possible to PC emulate the samsung c4eva?
(10:23:39 PM) c4eva: yes
(10:24:20 PM) c4eva: i will release v5 this weekend, but the 360 single layer is still a work in progress
(10:24:44 PM) c4eva: i have a 0078 hitachi now thanks to ireiz , so i am now spending time on that
(10:25:47 PM) c4eva: v5 supports xbox1 file iso, single layer and works, 360 will boot single layer/file iso, but will not play, need more time to look at
(10:26:44 PM) c4eva: so i will release v5 soon, i will just add the dvd-r support , as it currently only does dvd+r, and then "the scene" can play with the game partition data
(10:26:49 PM) Textbook: I would much rather have an 0078FK solution then I would v5
(10:27:01 PM) c4eva: yes
(10:27:48 PM) c4eva: files need to be untouched, well the signed ones do anyway, and you need the ss
(10:29:06 PM) c4eva: i have spoken to gary, so will keep him updated, i am giving him details on how the media stealth works, so he can implement
(10:29:49 PM) c4eva: i will spend christmas going through kernel for the 360 boot process
(10:30:29 PM) c4eva: i suspect there is LBA hash verification on the game data
(10:31:35 PM) c4eva: there are at least four versions of AP (anti-piracy) checks in the kernel, so will have to check them all
(10:32:11 PM) c4eva: AP10,AP15,AP20,AP21
(10:32:23 PM) c4eva: have to go now
(10:32:58 PM) c4eva: so on the weekend i will release for you guys to play with
(10:33:01 PM) c4eva: bye for now
(10:33:27 PM) c4eva: xbox1 has no such checks, so file iso/single layer all works
(10:33:30 PM) c4eva: bye

In reference to RAW DUMP vs FILE BASED iso's......
Do you mean , ripping with dummy data stripped out?
Currently I rip a raw dump and its 7.05.....
With a file based rip, would this mean it strips out dummy data and makes iso small enough to possible fit on a single layer disc.....???
Is this correct?
Just want to make sure I understand the difference in the two terms....
Thanks for the help!

Thats how I understand it, but at the moment they will boot up on SL discs but not run. If I've understood it right. You can apparantly run xbox1 games of SL disc.

hate to break it to you, but i am quite sure you will need the enable0800 disc on DL media in order to upgrade the firmware again

This guy is great!   Not only is he generations past the Hitachi firmwares but he never stops with one firmware.   He's always updating, changing and evolving the firmware.

What's the point of reflashing to the original firmware?  Just flash straight to 5.x (when released).  You gain absolutely nothing by going back to the original firmware and then going to the new version.

It's the equivalent of saying, "Before I upgrade my Windows XP to Vista, I'm going to downgrade to Windows 98 first, then upgrade to Vista."  That doesn't make sense.

Neither does going back to the original firmware.  If anything, you're introducing more of a risk since you're flashing your drive *twice* instead of just once.

and tbh i dont know how to it goes with modified firmware allready on there

and thaught it would be safer to restore it back to default first

As long as you have your orig.bin and/or your key you are safe to reflash a sammy with an xtreme firmware (as you can put your key into it already because you already have it) , this is because it flashes the whole thing not little bits as the Hitachi does. There is nothing wrong with you flashing back to orig.bin apart from adding more steps and time to your process and adding more chance for something to go wrong.
