Hitachi Drive Open Error? Or Is It...
« on: December 02, 2006, 04:50:00 AM »

Following the Hitachi Samsung v40 Tutorial

I tried the Slax method, but it didnt work, so i had to opt for the infamous crossed wire and resistor method.

I turn on the box, and uncrossed the wires immediatly (i made sure of this after reading all the horror stories)...

Everything seemed fine, the center flashed, my drive was recognised in windows and had a drive letter assigned...

During the flashing i got no errors and everything seems perfect.

But now when i turn on my 360, the drive opens, then closes (on its own), during power up.  Then i get the "close tray" message on the dashboard.  If i hit eject, the message changes to "closing" for a second then flicks back to "close tray".

I can connect the drive back up to my pc and put it back in modeb and can see it in windows with a drive letter attached, the drive will also open and close fine. (Manually and by the right-click eject method)

Does anyone have any suggestions? (i havent tried to flash back to the original firmware yet as i am in work at the moment)
(i have done many a search, but can seem to find all the answers)

sounds like the drive is stuck in modeb. try hooking the drive up to the 360 and powering it on and off a few times in a row, sometimes that works to put it back in modeg.

to add to this...

Someone like last night replied back to their problem that sounded like yours... his tray would open and not shut...
when being power on...

after trying alot of things... it turn out that hist 2 wires he took out of the connectors to do the wire trick were loose and not connecting right.    This kinda makes sense and hopefully it is your problem

Check those wires in that power connector!

I see where your coming from, but that definatly wouldnt of happened with mine. I spliced the wires in the middle and put in a cherry switch rather than remove them from the connector block (i didnt like the thought of holding two live wires  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) ).

But that is certainly something people should check for if they are having similar problems...

Anyways, i flashed my drive back to the original firmware, then again with the 7-in-1 firmware.  This time i got the "To play this game, please insert it in a 360" message...

So, flashed back to the original again, then re-flashed with another firmware (i think it was 1.2 and the previous one was 1.1).

Everything seems fine at the moment.  The drive opens on command, i can play original 360 games and get onto live with no problems.

I don't yet have a 'backed-up' 360 game to try, but i did have some 'backed-up' xbox 1 games to try.

I have 8 'backed-up' xbox 1 games which i tried, but with no luck. 3 of the 8 are listed on the M$ website of xbox 1 games you can play on the 360.  5 are not.

The 5 games that are not listed, gave me the message "this game is not supported on a 360" (or something to that effect).

The other 3 (which are listed), gave a different error message (along the lines of disc problem).

Now, a couple of questions...

These xbox 1 games were created/burned to work on the xbox 1 (and still work on my chipped xbox 1), does this mean they should work on the 360 if flashed correctly.  Or is there a specific way of creating/burning xbox 1 games to allow them to work on the 360.

I am leaning towards the flash not being taken and i am back on the original firmware.  Is there any way of finding out what firmware you are running?  (I don't want to keep flashing my drive all the time, as i still have a working 360 at the moment and would like to keep it like that...lol)

Also i know no-one is allowed to post links, but i cannot find any newer firmware than 1.2 anywhere, it is possible for someone to email a copy of Maximus-Garyopa Hitachi-LG Xtreme v2.3 Stealth 8in1 Revision2 to [email protected].  I have tried everywhere but cannot find any other firmware that looks genuine.

Many thanks

Xbox backups made for xbox will not work on xbox 360.  These must be backed up again using an xbox 360 compatible drive (ie. a 360 drive or the hacked samsung sh-d162c).
