Xtremebootmaker 3.6 Update Firmware
« on: November 23, 2006, 11:14:00 AM »

I have a TSH943. MS25 drive.

I currently have v3.0 of the Xtreme firmware running but want to update it to 4.2A. I do not have the orignal firmware as i bought it of ebay.

The question is. Is it safe to run samread to get the firmware and get the key for samhack?

Also when it says "replace x with your 360's firmware" referring to "samread xxxxxxx xxxxx".
what do i actually put in for the firmware version?

It SHOULD be safe, but I would probably want to do it manually using mtkflash to read, 360 Firmware Toolbox to extract the key and patch into the new firmware, and mtkflash to reflash the updated firmware on there.

With a MS25 though, you probably want to check out the patch update, to make sure your shiny new 4.2 reports to the Xbox that your drive is still a 'MS25' instead of the default MS28 and thus avoid E66 error once you have the latest Live update.

Regarding the xxxx etc, this is meant to be your Xbox serial number (nothing to do with the drive), and is simply there so that the patcher can organize the extacted firmware on the disk logically - ie if someone is doing 10 xbox's in a row, they wont get the different extracted firmware's all confused.

You simply write samread 1234567 12345
that's it.No need to write your serial number of 360

the reason i want to use xtremebootmaker is because it automatically patches MTKFLASH because i keep getting "No drive detected when trying to dump the firmware.

I guess i can use samread to dump the firmware then manually put the key in then MTKFLASH on the write.
