Hitachi 47dj Not Recognized In Bios

HELP! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

I have VIA K8T800Pro north bridge and VT8237 south bridge mo, and a Hitachi 47DJ drive connected through onboard sata port (should be recognized in bios as IDE channel 3, with windows on another sata port as IDE channel 2). I am using slex live cd.

But I cant see the drive in bios, it says none for that IDE channel. And after booting with slex cd and restart to  windows,  there is no such device neither. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I have also tried plugged the drive in the other port where windows was, but the bios still cant recognize the drive, and also the windows cant be found. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Shall I be able to see the drive in bios before I can see it in windows? Does it mean my mo is not compatible withe the drive? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

What shall I do now? Any help would be appritiated.

Have you tried using a different SATA cable?  It sounds like you have the same ECS mobo that I have, which I've already used to flash two Hitachis.  I got Slax to put the drives into Mode B by waiting until Slax was starting to boot before turning on the Xbox 360.  If I left the 360 on while turning the computer on, the drive would be detected during POST but Slax wouldn't load correctly.

Before booting with Slax, can the drive be detected by ur mobo's bios? Is it shown in bios? Cuz mine would not even show up in bios, which is the reason why I think it is not compatible with my mobo. I still dont kno if the drive needs to be detected by bios or not.

THX!

UPDATES

I tried powering up 360 when Slax boots up and waits at boot: screen. After a lot of texts spaming the screen, I reset the machine at login prompt.

Guess what, the middle green light starts to flash after the machine reboots. And when I check the bios, it now can detect the drive! I guess that means the drive is in modb(finally!!!). But unforturnately, I still can NOT see any new drive besides my old cdrw inside the pc.

I can see this is making some progress. Thx alot AZImmortal! Now again I dont kno what to do (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

BTW I chacked the device manager and there is only my cdrw under DVD/CD-ROM drive. No where to find the hitachi (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

New problems

Now after I pressed the eject botton, the tray would open. But after that I have to press the eject botton twice to close it(nothing happened if I pressed the eject once), and after it is closed for 5 seconds, the tray would open itself again and stay open. Is this normal? How can I close the tray?

FINALLY DONE!!!

I finally successfully flashed my 47dj.

At first the drive would not show up in windows xp, but after accidently booting into windows VISTA(forgot to choose xp at booting menu), I found that the drive was detected by VISTA!!!!

From there, I flashed the drive following the tut and it worked like a charm!!

After that I tested Dead Rising original and it worked fine(at least i can reach the menu). Hoping to get a backup to test (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

To sum it up, I think at least for my mobo VISTA supports 47dj better than xp, so if any1 has the similar problem, give VISTA a try if possible, it might work like mine.

Cheers! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Thx for AZImmortal 's help again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)

it wasnt just vista, the problem was that your sata drivers in xp were old and needed updated. the drivers in vista are up to date, and therefore were more compatible.
