Flashing With Xtreme Boot (help)
« on: November 21, 2006, 09:19:00 AM »

Hi, I like to apologize in advance if this sounds really noobish to some people, but I have a ms25 and I wanted to try flashing it with Xtreme Boot Maker v3.6 with 42b-ms25 (updated ver.).
As I load the firmware onto the Xtreme Firmware, I get a "Unable to find a matching Firmware Definition, Proceed with Caution" after the search for definiton...
Is it okay to proceed with "Unknown MD5: 9FA6C8F64DC2040F809A629FE518A6D0" as my Xtreme Firmware? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Thanks in advance. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

This is the hash number I got from that file and it looks the same as yours 9FA6C8F64DC2040F809A629FE518A6D0. Just make sure that you add your drive key to that firmware file (could be the 'cause of the error message). I've never heard of that error message before

Hi,
I'm getting the same problem but my number is "Unknown MD5: 05E1563D5F9334F7242881B3A77EA8B4"

I'm sure I've done everything else correctly up until this error appreared. Did your flash work even though this error was reported?

Thanks

I've searched my X42B.bin for anything relating to "Unknown MD5: 05E1563D5F9334F7242881B3A77EA8B4" but nothing showed up. Where do I find the hash number you mention? I've checked and my drive key is present. Is is safe to go ahead and flash my MS25?

Thanks

I've just finished flashing a ms28 drive. The same thing happen to me with Xtreme Bootmaker. It first doesnt recognise the firmware so it ask to update on the internet.Which I chose No.Then it came up with the error in which you guys are recieving."Unknown MD5: 05E1563D5F9334F7242881B3A77EA8B4"
But once it updates everything was good to go.I hope this helps.

Hi,
Do you mean once the 360 drive is flash updated with the firmware that everything was good even though Xtrmeme boot maker warns to proceed with catuion OR  do you mean you chose YES when Xtreme boot maker asked to connect to the internet to download a firmware definition update? Thus eliminating the unknown firmware error.

When I select YES to connect to the interent Xtreme boot maker just reports that no firmware definitions are available. I'm still stuck with the same error.

I could just try the flash but I would be much happier if Xtreme boot maker didn't give me this warning.

Thanks

Hi,
"OR do you mean you chose YES when Xtreme boot maker asked to connect to the internet to download a firmware definition update? Thus eliminating the unknown firmware error."Yep, this is what I mean. But I don't get the error"no firmware definitions are available".
I noticed on the start of this thread that zen0 was saying he was using the updated version of Xtreme42,i think this is causing the problems.I was using the Xtreme42 (without the update) firmware. On the safe side i wouldn't flash using xtreme bootmaker until it recognises the firmware.

Okay I started again from scratch and now it's working with the original Xtreme42.bin or the Xtreme 42 update.

I was trying to load up the X42b.bin file that was created when I ran the Make42b.bin shortcut in the Xtreme directory.

My problem now is that no drives are detected when using MTKflash in DOS. Xtreme bootmaker did pick up my SATA chipset while in windows and then wrote the edited MTKFlash but it doesn't work when in DOS. I've even tried this "how to fix no drives deteted" guide here: -

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/384753

but to no avail.

I'm probably just gona buy a VIA PCI card instead. I'll get this sussed yet.

Thanks again
