As stated above (you must learn to read posts fully), do not use the birdy flasher.  Get the most recent maximus-opa v2.3 revision 2 and flash with that (read the readme first).  People have had mixed sucess with the birdy flasher, many of which resulted in a bricked drive.  After your recent experience, i'm sure thats the last thing you want to happen.
