Yep sure will, mine had same chipset VT6421L and it worked like a dream...  no soldering required on the DVD drive at all   biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

I used this video tutorial to flash the drive, very easy to follow from start to finish..

Cheers

thanks to Textbook & svincent
the way described in the video works like a charme with my cheap ASRock 775DUAL-VSTA mobo with the onboad 8237 SATA-Controller  and a ms28 cool.gif

xboxexpert, you are the bloody man!
Thank you a million times over as only this guide worked for me.
Though I was getting err 51 - 70, and not 51 - 80 as you outlined.

Running X52A bin with no problems thus far.

I used an Asus A8V-E-SE motherboard with onboard VIA SATA, maybe thats why the codes were different.

You can thank him all you want but I think he's in jail.  huh.gif

I've had nothing but trouble using my Asus board even with the PCI via card, glad you got yours to work though

I follow this procedure step by step with a MS28 and PCI Card with chipset VIA 6421L, Downloaded the specific MTKFLASH.EXE and TYP and I am Using Xtreme5.2b, Whenever I get the DOS Prompt, after running mtkflash r /m orig.bin, it detects my drive, but when I push ESC, it says Status 51 Should be 70. Anything i'm doing wrong? blink.gif

Do you follow the step in the guide where you turn the 360 off and on?  That's the key to flashing ms28 drives.

Sorry for the double post

These are th exact steps I am taking, Along with my Equipment
PCI/SATA Card with VIA 6421L, Xtreme 5.2b Firmware, MS28 Drive, and I downloaded a Customer MTKFLASH.EXE with MTKFLASH.TYP

All IDE was turned off in BIOS and Unplugged, Booting from Bootable USB

I have the 360 opened up, Sammy hooked up through power only, with the 360 turned off

I boot to the DOS Prompt ( Which is C:\, not A:\ ) typed in "mtkflash r /m orig.bin"

Before pushing enter, I hooked the SATA from the Sammy to the Second SATA slot on my card, then turning on the 360, Waiting 5 to 7 seconds, then Pushing enter

This is the part that messes up for me, after pushing enter, it reads "Port:d200 Master/Slave: a0 " and stays there, When I try to push ESC, as said in the guide, It gives my Status 51 should be 70

Damn, I guess no one else wants to post....sorry for the triple

I have got my MS28 Flashed finally, But am now having Open Tray errors with backups that work 100% in Hitachi 46DG. I will try as much as I can, not expecting any answers, just advice. Peace out to all and happy modding!

The method I used to get this MS28 to work, and it worked twice, was to have my DVD-Burner( Older Plextor) hooked up as well, so It will give my the choice of it or the Sammy, Before I choose anything, my 360 was off, but you have to turn it on and then back off while the computer is on or it will not give you the choice between drives. Anyways, when you push 2 to select the 360 drive, you must turn you xbox 360 on right at this moment, or it will not work and you will get a Status 51 should be 70
