posted your answer in your OTHER thread.  try to keep to one thread so you know when someone answers you.

By the way the via on your board is for IDE raid  not for sata... your sata is ICH5 you must do the vcc method unless you purchase the card.

No difference, both will work.   I use the L but have seen many posts with success with the A.

Is there possible that there's gonna be several and better ways to flash the MS28 in the future, then I will wait. Because I doesn't find the controller in Sweden.

I think you could be waiting a very long time, although the VCC method looks hard I don't think that there is that much in it...

I think that this product   biggrin.gif   will still require the VIA chipset too...

but i cant wait for the release

Turned out to be a bad VIA card.
Found one of the SATA connectors burnt...I don't know if I did it or it came that way.
Newegg was nice enough to send me a replacement.
I got the non RAID version, since the RAID version was sold out.  Anywho, worked first try!!!!

Thanks for the howto.

Is there any way this may work with a SATA enable motherboard ?

For some reason when I use those MTKflash files the Xbox DVD rom doesn't show up..
and when I use the real ones it does...

although, i still get status=51, should be 70..

please help...  i can't afford such a card right now..  uhh.gif

status=51, should be 70

means it sees the drive but its LOCKED

Try with your card my method of shuting down the 360 at the screen where it scans the ports then see if you turn your 360 back on if it will work...

Hi.

I manage to backup my original Samsung MS28 firmware yesterday, using the Xtreme bootmaker on a USB pen (using Xtreme4.2a firmware). Checked the USB pen and it's created a good copy of orig.bin and hacked.bin

When I used the SAMHACK command, it asked which SATA port to use, switched off Xbox, chose option 1, counted 10 seconds, then switched the Xbox back on.

It started to write to bank #1 ok, but then failed on the rest. I then received any error about chip erased failed (or simliar). I left it for a while but nothing was happening.

I rebooted the PC and the xbox. Tried SAMHACK again, when asked to choose the SATA port, switched off, chose option 1, counted 10 secs, switched on again.

Nothing happens it just displays "just displays Port 1120, Master/Slave: a0". Xbox light is just flashing green quite fast. If it helps A/V is plugged in and I'm using a VT6421A SATA card.

I also tried SAMORIG but say results. Please could someone help?

Thanks

Steve

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help.  I'm flashing my ms28, or at least trying.

When following the SAMREAD BIG ASS method, no drives are detected.  When I boot the PC with the XBOX already switched on, it DOES detect the drive (however I appreciate this is not the correct way of doing it)

The drive when it is detected is
1: XTREME Pri Master
2: XTREME Pri Slave

However, after this, selecting either method freezes at
Port: 10d8, Master/Slave: a0

I'm using an HP Compaq dc7600, of which the only information I can find is that the motherboard chipset is Intel 945G (not very useful I know).  Are these results possibly the effect of incompatible motherboard though?  I was thinking that seeing as the drive was detected, this shouldn't be the problem.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Additional Information
BIOS Motherboard IDE/SATA Setup Info
Multisector Transfers - 16
Transfer Mode - Max UDMA
Translation Mode - Automatic

SATA Emulation - Seperate IDE Controller
IDE Controller - Enable
Primary SATA Controller - Enable
Secondard SATA Controller - Enable

There are NO drives connected, other than USB and XBOX DVD Drive

Thanks

That is what I am doing.... I put my computer on..  It says

SERIAL PORT 01 : Not Detected
SERIAL PORT 02 : Not Detected

Then when it shows

A:\

So I start the Xbox and wait a few seconds then type in mtkflash r /m orig.bin

My Xbox drive doesn't show up...

ALTHOUGH, if I use the original MTKFLASH files (in the xtreme 4.2 folder) the drive shows up  huh.gif
