Dump using slax and replace key using firmware toolbox v2

Sorry, I dont get it. The actual flash has to be desoldered and the bios image dumped out as a file in a programmer, how can we use slax for this ?
From what I read, the key is located at different addresses, how do we know where to grab the key in the original image to transfer over to the hacked image same address ?

sorry I dent elaborate on my earlier message, but this process is what I was meaning.

I have no problem dumping out the original firmware of a drive from the flash, and re-programming it, but could do with a little tut on how to get the original key and a little more info on where to copy / paste it into the released hacked image.

well one thing i didnt realize, since i havent actually seen the model number of the IC used on the 0078 is that its changed from sst39sf020 to sst39VF020, and from the list of ICs supported the VF model doesnt seem to be on there. Im not sure wether it CAN actually read/write the VF since it can program the SF...ill have to look into that.
Originally i had bought it for my hitachi (which has the older gen tsops) in case i bricked it tongue.gif

none the less here is what i bought:
Programmer
Adapter

as far as i understand you dont have to remove the chip to get a dump of the firmware, if you use the slax method to get the drive into mode b dump the firmware then use firmware toolbox to get the key.
You only have to remove the chip to re-programme the chip as there is no way to re-programme it thats what gary opa and the like are working on.
I would definately be getting the key first before ant attempts at chip removal

AHA ! I see, OK thanks for clearing that up, I didnt realise that slax could be used to dump out the firmware, and your right about getting the key first, at least then if the drive is trashed during a disassembly another drive could be used to save the day.

i dont see how slax would work on the 78 drives considering the memdump isnt available how the hell do you dump the full fw

im sure if the key was gettable this way it would be big news since folk could patch there key into a differant revision drive

Hi folks,

Illl ellaborate a little on the new firmware as i was speaking to maximus himself the other night. He had an issue with a gears or war original game, it would not boot on release 1.5 but does on 1.6 (Even tho a copy booted on bth versions). My MSN was doing wacky things last night so i didnt get the new firmware to try it out yet (update to follow), i wil tell you one thing though, the success rate on the 078 is not great, i have been dumping chips and passing on the firmwares to Gary/Maximus etc for analasys. 078 seems 50/50 atm, a friend had dumped 10 and only got 4 outta the 10 running and i have similar ratio.
However, i can dump they key and put into a replacment hitatchi nol problem at all!!

Ive said it once and im gonna REALLY SAY IT AGAIN, UNLESS YOUR A PRO DO NOT CONSIDER REMOVING THE BLACK EPOXY/COUMPOUND!!   IF YOU ARE NOT EXPERIENCED, YOU WILL KILL YOUR DRIVE, ITS NOT JUST OVER IT, ITS ALSO UNDER IT AND HOLDING IT TO THE BOARD!!

lol, getting bold w/ the deduction of media stealth.

thats good, it was just a gimmick, a good caution from what happened in the xbox1 era w/ xbox live. Alot of people are using xbox1 logic on xbox360, like what speed to burn games etc.
