Maximus Xtreme v1.6 Firmware for Hitachi-LG v0078
Posted by XanTium | November 15 12:14 EST

Maximus (Carranzafp) released a new version of his modified (Xtreme) firmware for the Xbox360 Hitachi-LG GDR-3120L v0078 DVD-drive:
Quote

What's new in this release:
* Changed Boot order to allow some newer Original games boot without problem (Ver 1.6)

This release has been FULLY TESTED ON A 78 DRIVE!!!
*If it doesn't works for you maybe you messed something on the drive PCB or flash chip.*

Boot of originals was tested with an Original of Gears of War that was not booting on v1.5 rev 2 and now boots fine with v1.6. Backups are not affected.

FEATURES:
* ModeB when poweron with tray open
* Media Detection V2
* Xtreme 800 to load backups
* No F900 core, maybe later
* No Firmware Stealth (maybe not needed anymore with this one)

Official Site: n/a (by Maximus/Carranzafp)
Download: n/a (might be illegal under DMCA/EUCD)

yeah i'm confused? don't need firmware stealth?

Cool that there is another release. Now all we need is the media stealth for the LG-Hitachi drives (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Maybe someone can fill me in, what exactly does the firmware stealth do? I have had my DVD Drive firmware modified for a while now, and I still do not know what that does (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Firmware stealth makes it look to anyone reading the firmware from software look like the original ( hides the modified firmware ).

Media stealth makes it look like on xbox live that the disc you are playing is the original

i'm pretty sure anyway ;P

The reason it is speculated that firmware stealth is not needed in v78 is because there are no commands to dump the firmware. If you cannot dump the firmware, then neither can the Xbox 360.

How will this firmware update hold up against the updates? And How do I find out if I had ms 25 or ms 28 drive?

This is only the firmware, no way to flash the 0078 drives without desoldering the chip yet?
