Help With Hitachi 47dj - Flashed Wrong Somehow?
« on: November 10, 2006, 05:20:00 PM »

Hi, having some probs with my drive and wondering if anyone can help (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

First off, for my PC I'm using a DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D mobo.

To connect the drive, I'm using Xecuter's connectivity kit.

Here's what I did:

The connectivity kit put the drive into ModeB for me, I had the switches in the correct position. I backed up the original firmware / key with no problems.

First off I tried to use the Maximus-Garyopa pack, it didn't work because it wasn't finding some files:

WARNING: A required XTREME file is missing!

NOTE: Please get the latest release of this
package and unpack ALL the files into
a directory, and then rerun this file

So, I tried the Birdy pack (Birdy_Hitachi-LG_friendly_Flasher_v2.2_with_Xtreme_v1.3_and_2.0.rar). I ran the .exe and it seemed to work fine. It successfully flashed the drive etc. I plugged the drive back into my xbox and the xbox boots up ok to the dash, however the drive will not open. When I try to open it either by pressing the button or doing it through the dash, it just gets stuck on "opening" or "reading"... I then plugged it back to my PC and found that it wouldn't work with the connectivity kit open switch either (it worked before flashing). I've since tried to get back into the Birdy flasher.exe to restore the original firmware and try something else however I get this error:

I tried the Maximus-Garyopa RESTORE.BAT too, which gave me the same error as before about not finding the files. All of the files are in C:\

C:\Documents and Settings\Rich>C:\RESTORE.BAT F

So, can anyone figure out what's wrong here and how it could be fixed? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

edit: when trying to restore with birdy it DOES launch the app not just give the error msg - however the "GO" button is greyed out.

Do not run batch files from any directory except the one they are located in....doing so causes the batch file to search the current directory for those files, not the one the batch file is located in.  There were some problems with some of the versions of those firmwares...get the latest version and try again.  I recommend using GaryOPA's.

I see now I had to put all the files in the right folder, got that thanks james. However the batch file RESTORE.BAT I tried to use to restore the drive (latest version) didn't work because my PC is 64-bit, it gave me the error "The program or feature "\??\C:\Documents and Settings\Rich\GETHITV.EXE" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows."

Is there any way I could get it working with x64? As I don't really have access to a 32-bit PC with SATA. Or are there any 64--bit versions around?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

thanks for the number bAN01TgAZ I'll try that if I can't get it working.

Just seen this thread:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...ighlight=64+bit

gonna give it a go (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Tried changing all places with "qfc" to "FC /B" but it didn't work. Same error (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I think my SATA drivers are ok since my HD is SATA and is ok (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

update..

It's flashed perfectly now with "Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2" firmware, I used 32-bit to do it rather than 64 and it worked fine.

However, it still doesn't open. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Anyone know why this could be or how I can fix it? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
